Sneezing/hay-fever following jab

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this after the vaccine. Literally the day after I couldn't walk outside without sneezing extensively. Although now it's happening inside too, so more like a really constant runny nose, but really really constant. Been a few days now, wondering how long it lasted?

It could just be a timing coincidence. My family all have hay fever and it's been ferocious this week. I think everyone is suffering extra hard, and even I've had itchy eyes when I don't normally get it. I'm not sure it's to do with the vaccine!

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 16/06/2021 07:53

It’s probably completely unrelated to the vaccine. I was being all smug thinking I’d got away with only mild hayfever this year until about 5 days ago when it’s been terrible.

tenlittlecygnets · 16/06/2021 07:58

Probably a coincidence!! The pollen level has been high all week = hay fever!

Mindymomo · 16/06/2021 11:20

As above, the grass pollen has really increased the past couple of days and I am constantly sneezing, had vaccine over 3 weeks ago.

ChatterMonkey · 16/06/2021 11:22

Ffs soon there'll be posts saying 'my friend got the vaccine and the day after she got hit by a bus. Should i report this as a side effect??'

Not everything that happens after you get the vaccine, is caused by the vaccine. Its far more likely that your hayfever has been caused by pollen. Not the vaccine. Hth.

Frymetothemoon · 16/06/2021 11:23

Probably just a coincidence. Saw my allergy specialist this week and she said grass pollen levels were exceptionally high.
I am taking a double dose of my medication (at her suggestion and not for long) but am still getting symptoms

KylieKoKo · 16/06/2021 11:46

The pollen count has been insane over the past few days. I doubt it's related to the vaccine.

idontlikealdi · 16/06/2021 12:03

Coincidence. I have terrible hay fever and had been all smug this year, as a pp said five days ago it went mad. I've got an appointment this afternoon to get the stuff beginning with f.

Swearwolf · 16/06/2021 12:43

There was a good article about it today - the wet weather over April and May caused the plants to produce more pollen, and the hot weather this week has caused it all to be released into the atmosphere. Everyone is really suffering!

Could not have said it better myself 🤦‍♀️
Brabraboo · 16/06/2021 13:09

Honestly it’s very unlikely to be related. I didn’t realise there was high pollen count (and the met website actually says it’s low in my area) but I am SUFFERING. I’ve had no sleep because of it and now am struggling to function through the day which seems very bizarre but I’m genuinely being floored by it this week.

My aunt has also just taken herself home from work for he first time in over a decade because her eyes are so swollen that she can’t continue working in a hospital because they have to wear the hospital masks which rest on the point her swelling starts so she has two open wounds under her eyes too.

Hay fever symptoms will be being caused by pollen. Not a vaccine. Flowers

PickAChew · 16/06/2021 13:13

Grass pollen is at its peak, right now.

Anecdotally, dh and I both had a day or two of everyday niggles (allergies, joint pains etc) being exacerbated after each of our jabs, but that is perfectly normal when your immune system is having to work extra hard.

Randominternetbitch · 16/06/2021 13:41

My arse seems to have gotten a lot fatter after my second AZ jab, is a fat arse one of the side effects? My diet hasn’t really changed, I only eat cakes, crisp and chips every day, sometimes several times a day.

Morechocmorechoc · 16/06/2021 21:30

Thanks for those with kind replies who are helpful. To those snarky people its unkind and not necessary. Sneezing has been a symptom reported officially. I don't usually get hay-fever so the extreme sneezing seemed highly unlikely for no reason the day after. Some people had this in December from the vaccine, so was that hay-fever too?!

My, vaccine actually cured my hay-fever. It was horrendous, stopped 3 hours after the vaccine, and hasn't come back 9 weeks later.

Wow that's fortunate for you!
