2nd vaccine appointment for over 40s

Hi,

my husband and I are both over 40. We had our first appointment at the end of April and have our second one booked for mid July. Both had Astra Zeneca.

I would like to bring my second appointment forward as apparently the over 40s can now do, but I'd have to cancel my existing appointment first and am worried about there being no availability then for a 2nd earlier on.

Has anyone tried that yet? Was there availability? I am in the South East.

If you’re very worried about losing slot, cancel early morning or late t night when fewer people are on the website and it’s highly unlikely your slot will be gone in the time it takes to look.

I had my 1st AZ vaccine in mid-April was due my second on 1 July. I cancelled with some trepidation last night, hoping there would be availability sooner but nervous there wouldn't be. As it happened I needn't have worried, I had my pick of centres, dates and times!

So glad I saw this thread! My DH had had an invitation to bring forward his 2nd dose and I was waiting to get the same but now I've just cancelled and rebooked mine for next week! Thanks for sharing the info.

@VanCleefArpels your local council should have a Covid email newsletter you can sign up to where they announce things like walk-in clinics for vaccinations, surge testing and support.

You need to go on your local council website to sign up.

Changed ours this evening, DH now booked in for his second AZ tomorrow morning.

Mine for Saturday week, the 26th which is exactly 8 weeks gap so soonest I'm eligible. Also at local Boots now instead of half hour drive down the motorway, really pleased!

PrettyCherryBlossom · 15/06/2021 22:04

Today I moved mine and DHs from early July to tomorrow, just over an 8 week gap

Thanks, everyone! Both my husband and cancelled our slots yesterday and now have appointments for next week, at places much more local to us than the one previously booked.
