Need to amend my vaccine booking - implications?

I’ve got my 2nd vaccine (Pfizer, I’m 33) booked in early August but my cousin has booked a last minute wedding (for really sad personal reasons) on the date I’m booked in.

I can probably just about make both but it’ll be extremely tight & I don’t want to mess the day up so I’d rather re-book. But equally, I don’t want too if it means I’ll have to wait over 12 weeks or there isn’t a slot available?! Will the online system allow you to book longer than a 12 week gap? What if there are no slots available in the time frame, will it say nothing available?! 😬

You have to cancel before you can see availability for rebooking, and there is no guarantee of any earlier availability. However I would have thought that given you've got six weeks to play with, you'll find something earlier. A 13w gap will be fine if you can't though.

I think the other factor to bear in mind is how flexible you are about travelling to get your vaccination. I drove 50 miles for mine because I could then make sure it was on a Friday morning before a long weekend off (had horrible side effects from first AZ and wanted to make sure I didn't have to get up at 5am the day after again.) The website will only show you confirmed deliveries of the vaccination you require and further dates normally get added closer to the time but nearly everyone I know who has tried to rebook has managed to get an app within the 12 week time frame

I tried to change mine because I found out a friend was going the previous day & wanted to go with her.
Cancelled my booking.
Looked for available date.
Only date available was the one I had just cancelled.
Rebooked the same date Grin

We're in our 40s and not sure if it works for all age groups but we went back in and changed from 12 weeks to 8.
if you log in at a quiet time then worst case scenario you'll be able to rebook the one you cancelled.

Also depending on where you are, round here there are lots of walk in clinics now where you can go with no appointment. They advertise what they have so and will let you have a second if 8 weeks have passed (and sometimes less, I've been told).
