Will these go ahead? I'm really confused by the guidelines. Both outside.

Kids sport has been allowed for ages now so I would assume so, limits on spectators at kids football have also been abolished so I dont see why not.

@Hellocatshome - schools have to follow DfE guidance for schools, not guidance on outside public sporting fixtures. Schools are required to maintain “bubble” groups, etc. It is irrelevant that school class bubbles are burst by children doing activities outside of school, as at school, school risk assessments must comply with DfE guidelines and can’t be ignored on sports day.

Walkaround a bubble wouldn't count as being burst by being outside on the same school field though. Schools have to either sit the children in bubble groups and keep races within bubbles or (if the bubbles are bigger) have separate sections of sports day for each bubble and clean equipment/swap audience between sections. Both those models comply perfectly well with DfE guidance. But that doesn't necessarily mean every school can manage to have a sports day or invite people to them.

The government guidance allows them but it doesn't mandate that they must be done. It has to be school dependent.

@blameitonthecaffeine - I am fully aware of what is and is not allowed. Nothing that you have said counteracts anything I said. Given the fact many schools have limited outside space and parents and children inevitably ask to use indoor school facilities (eg toilets, first aid facilities), it stands to reason many schools will not be running a “sports day” where all year groups compete on one day and any parents and grandparents who want to, rock up.
