Can I have an indoor party for 30? If it's a significant life event?

Just that is it allowed now ? I've been reading the .gov guidance, obviously the venue we've booked might say no, but technically is it allowed?

@osbertthesyrianhamster oh 😂

osbertthesyrianhamster · 14/06/2021 21:31

Love country dancing and it's a surprisingly good workout! There's a reason waltzes follow reels. Whew! Can't wait to get back to it and old Edna barking at us, 'Set! Set, folks!'

Are work meetings allowed, does anyone know?

Youngatheart00 · 14/06/2021 21:31

As in - a group meeting / offsite?

Work meetings would already be permitted, depending on a suitable location and practical distancing in the venue

The details on the latest though are:

Just have your party. I'm sure Cromwell and the Taliban won't be peering through the window to check up on you.

I was in ballet from 3 until I was 17, danced competitive ballroom with my grandfather and country/line dancing is some of the most fun I've had in about 40 years of dance. It's a total blast and great exercise.

helpmewiththispleez · 14/06/2021 21:38

Where does it say no dancing ? Do weddings have to just be a sit down meal then ? Not sure 7 year olds will want 3 courses for their party 😜 I'm not sure I'm going to get away with it.

Sadly my garden is the size of a postage stamp, ok kitchen leading on to it, but had 12 kids years plus parents years back and it was a squash and the kids were a quarter of the size.

Just call it a work meeting. You are an author writing the memoirs of your friends and family. Grin

If a bbq counts I don't see why a buffet doesn't.

It's booked for an indoor venue, not sure they will allow it to go ahead sadly.

Dancing is advised against due to the increased risk of transmission, except the couple’s ‘first dance’. Dancefloors and other spaces for dancing must remain closed but can be repurposed for additional customer seating or other relevant purposes, ensuring this is in line with the social distancing guidelines.

My husband can't dance to save himself. Thankfully, my mate's husband next week is an excellent dancer and she hates it. We'll need to have a jig and at least one waltz. I'm sick of barre and centre work alone in an empty room at the gym.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 15/06/2021 00:00

A wedding and no dancing?! The dancing is the best part.

HalfPastThree · 15/06/2021 00:22

You can't have a party of more than 6 people indoors, but I'm not sure anyone understands the rules any more, and depending on where you are in the country, I'm not sure anyone's enforcing them.

Pissedoff1234 · 15/06/2021 00:30

If I'm dancing with someone on a dance floor to YMCA then I am further away from them than if we went to a restaurant with them. Yet another bloody stupid rule.

olivethegreat · 15/06/2021 05:12

Do what you want , I'll be having indoor gtg now but will test before and do plenty hand washing etc. As far as I'm concerned the restrictions apply to big community gatherings and in shops etc, I'm doing what I like in my own space

Cattitudes · 15/06/2021 05:52
@Ellmau I think the previous poster is saying that they'll book the venue for a do but say it's a wedding party
I wonder if Ellmau means that as soon as you mention the W word everyone bumps up the prices.

Ellmau · 15/06/2021 18:36

I did indeed.
