"I probably never go to a large party or even an indoor class again. "

Eh? Hmm

Why never again? This will get better.
I'm still hoping to see the Killers in concert.

I hear ya OP!! I really miss hearing some bloody loud music and having a good time in a crowd of people. I really can't imagine when it's going to happen again (in the way we used to). I went to a socially-distanced DJ gig the other weekend and whilst it was fun and I did dance (in front of my chair) it just wasn't the same. Kind of like having a glass of lemonade when you really want champagne.

I've got quite a few festivals lined up this summer and they're getting further and further away from actually happening. It really sucks.

Why not dance at home OP or hold an outdoor party for 30 of your mates? You can still play music you did know that didn’t you? 😂 Invest in some super headphones, make some space and you’re set.

The thought of being in a hot sweaty nightclub now just makes me feel queasy, it’s something I definitely won’t be doing when they reopen clubs in 2026

The thought of being squished at the barrier by the weight of a massive, sweaty crowd behind me/condensation dripping from the rafters/thousands of people singing along with the band in unison at the top of their lungs makes me feel anything but queasy. It's a joyous, communal thing and one of the saddest losses in terms of normal life of the past year for me. Listening at home on headphones so as not to upset the neighbours is like fancying a Michelin starred meal and making do with a Pot Noodle. I absolutely cannot wait to get back to gigs!

I have found my people! I have said this to so many friends and colleagues, over the last months, and they just look at me like I'm crazy. I didn't miss shopping. I didn't even miss going to the pub, as much as I miss going dancing. Clubs, gigs, dance classes, anything really.
I know it's a first world problem and I am grateful for the things we can do but my god I'd like to go dancing.

There. Glad I got that off my chest to people who understand!

I love gigs, but I was quite excited just to have a dance at a wedding.

I don't miss dancing as much but I really miss singing. Can't sing at choir or at church and no sign of that being lifted any time. Might have to go to a football match - apparently its fine to sing there... Hmm

GoldenOmber · 14/06/2021 21:23

Yes! I want to go to a gig and jump up and down and get pissed off that the drunk bloke behind me spilled beer in my hair, except I wouldn't even be pissed off any more, I'd just be so glad to be back.

And go to a ceilidh. I miss ceilidhs. Hope there are still some ceilidh bands left when that's allowed again in God-knows-when.

I dance in the kitchen while cooking dinner, washing up, eating dinner, kids must think I'm nuts. Dreaming of dancing in a field to a big base beat with a load of happy people while the sun goes down.
