DS Positive, 10 days isolation is nearly up, do we all need to test again?

So DS positive LF and PCR conformed a positive result. DH and I tested negative. We have all isolated and 10 days is nearly up.

Im sure when Track and Trace called me they said they would keep in touch before the 10 days was up - no one has and Im wondering do we all need to re-test again? DH and I have done LFT and both negative but havent done anything for DS yet.

Last Isolation day is Monday - should DS get another PCR test to check?

The lateral flows can stay positive for 6 weeks after so no point doing it again. He can go out when his 10 days are up.

No, you don’t need to test again.

If you have done your 10 days and have no symptoms and your son is better you can come out of isolation.

GloomyWaters · 11/06/2021 21:36

Ah ok. Track and Trace havent contacted us again - do they?

So we were told by one of our schools to pcr test the whole family (except positive child) on day 5 again - and if positive, extend that person’s isolation to 10 days (so 15 days in total!). This was new Delta guidance in case a child tests positive. But if they haven’t communicated that to you carry on as Kent variant norm - whole family isolates for 10 days and then done. If you are worried about it, you could try the lfts for yourselves
