Anyone had any luck bringing forward 2nd Moderna jab?

My DH (43) has managed to bring forward his AZ to 9 weeks. I'd like to do the same for mine (we're the same age), but I got Moderna and every time I check the website it offers me 11 weeks as the earliest (when we're away so I'm looking at a long drive to a centre offering moderna!).

I cancelled my 2nd dose and tried to rebook but I was only offered the same date as I had originally.

SonnetForSpring · 10/06/2021 16:24

To be honest I only looked at the same venue as I went to before.

Urgh I am agonising over this too - too scared to cancel in case I can't rebook. I'd happily drive some distance but just wish we could see options before cancelling the original appointment.

I've cancelled and rebooked several times in an attempt to get an earlier - never achieved that, but did always manage to re-book the same appointment give or take an hour or two.

That's quite reassuring actually - at least you are no worse off then. Will I be brave enough...!

It's definitely a risk ... I was told to do it late at night when fewer people will be on the site so your previous booking is unlikely to be immediately snapped up.

I cancelled in order to try and book a closer one bit couldn't get one. I just rebooked my old jab time.

Forgottenyeti · 10/06/2021 19:11

I don't think I've seen anyone say they've managed it. I'm scared to try.

SancerreSunsets · 10/06/2021 19:40

I did hear something about earlier slots being released in age groups and that early 40s could try beginning of next week - could just be a rumour, but I will give it another go then. Was hoping someone would say it was possible now, but sounds like it's unlikely.

There's a professor on Twitter who works at the BDC vaccination centre and he has been asked a few times and always says there is currently no capacity or supply for this unless you are over 50 or in group 6.

It's easier for those who had AZ as there's lots of available vaccines everywhere but Moderna is a small supply anyway.

SonnetForSpring · 10/06/2021 22:44

Yes I saw some info suggesting you cannot bring forward dates for moderna

beggsie · 10/06/2021 22:54

Well, if that's the case, I'll keep my appointment and hope that it isn't cancelled. Which is a small irrational fear but controlled by the small numbers of Moderna available.

MumofSpud · 10/06/2021 23:01

Both me and my DH were due our 2nd AZ jabs on 30th June.

Today we cancelled (nervously!) and rebooked ..... for tomorrow Grin

There were loads of dates and times available!

I'm surprised to read that there's such a big gap between doses in the UK, the recommended gap is 28 days.

In Ireland and they are sticking to the 28 days between doses timetable. I'm getting my second Moderna at the weekend, right on schedule. There seems to be a good supply of it here too.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/06/2021 23:44

I’m in Scotland and had Moderna at the end of April. My second appointment came through today for 21 June. I think it will be seven weeks between jabs.
