Warming us up to a 4 week delay?

Dobby declares Covid (and the potential organ damage of Long Covid) a 'mild' illness.

One of the highest death tolls and rates in the world. More than 130,000 dead. Many suffering long term disability. Wrecked economy. Traumatised exhausted NHS staff.

Yes very mild.

We are getting there. Doing well with our vaccine rollout. But we still have 50% of the adult population not fully vaccinated.
Do we (yet again) take the one step forward, two steps back approach? It's gone so well over the last year...

@allmycats

Has anyone any sensible suggestions as to what can be done in areas where people will not abide by guidance and steadfastly refuse to stop mixing in large groups inside, also if they continue to refuse vaccines what can we do ? There was a young woman interviewed on A northern TV channel who said she would not stop visiting her relatives whatever the situation, and her family were against vaccination. What the hell do we do in this ongoing mess ?
We do the same as we do (or should do) with any other law breaking?

Most other countries enforce their laws - whether emergency pandemic measures or unrelated.

The UK government hasn't. The pretty please approach doesn't work. People don't respect that. (To be clear, I'm responding to the post above asking about wilful refusal to adhere to the rules. Insufficient support for self isolation is a separate issue and needs better funding).

@SonnetForSpring

There needs to be a delay. 7,500 today!

But if they warm us up to four weeks and it ends up being only two, then everyone thinks how clever and generous they are and the government gets another three points in the opinion polls.

And rightly so. They're playing a blinder.
