@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

"He is 75.

^Old people die or get ill - the latter in his case. If it hadn't been covid, it would have been something else that did something to his weak elderly body"

Just wow^

Yeah absolutely! I know plenty of sprightly 70 year olds. Neither weak or particularly elderly. They go hiking and do active sports.

Agreed. That was a horrible statement.

@thecatsatonthewall your ignorance is showing. No, we don’t have people left in gutters with rotting limbs, because our healthcare system didn’t collapse. We have plenty of people with peripheral necrosis and digital and/or limb loss due to covid, as also happens with other infections. If you’ve ever seen a patient on ECMO then they’re peripherally shutdown, cold, and at real danger of gangrene.

I don’t think this is ‘new’ news. I’ve read accounts since last year of people who’ve either had to have amputations or were in danger of needing one during their illness.

In fairness though, I don’t know if India have seen a rise beyond the levels already seen.

Thankyou for supporting what i said, Europe hasn't had these issues precisely because we have modern healthcare systems
(and for doing it in such a supportive and condescending way)

We'll have to disagree on whether the NHS was overwhelmed, my cousin who died because she didn;t have her cancer routine tests might have another opinion.
Or me told to wait 4 years in pain, can't work and had to go private when they reopened, same for my in laws too.
