people who have covid & really don't know it.....

All the people I know who have had covid knew they had it because they had symptoms &/or felt unwell either mildly or severely.

But I don't know anyone who has been positive & had absolutely no idea. So Im wondering if it is as common as the adverts would have us believe?

I know quite a few people who only knew they had it because they were getting regular tests for work.

DH was tested back in Dec, displaying some symptoms. The rest of us also got tested, me, DS & DD. We came back positive, but never had a symptom between us.

I had it (I think) last May

I only know this because I had an antibody test with work which was positive later in 2020 and I do remember in retrospect feeling a bit “off” for a couple of days

I didn’t isolate and I still went to work but this was very early days when you only got a test if you had a cough (which I didn’t)

I probably wouldn't have known I had it if my DP hadn't tested positive first. It was so mild and I didn't feel unwell. DS also positive but never complained once, he was totally fine.

I haven't had it that I know of but in January we were all told to get tested at work as there was a large outbreak. 6 people tested positive with no symptoms.

I have a friend who's husband had it with no real symptoms. Think he was fine throughout his isolation. She's on here actually. I'll send her this post...

My 75 year old diabetic overweight aunt. Cousin is a hcp and tested positive. She'd been visiting her parents so they tested and both positive.

Uncle was a bit poorly as was cousin (heavy cold level). Auntie had a 45 minute nap one afternoon......

I either had it when I thought I did (back in January 2020, supposedly before it was properly seeded in the UK) or I had it completely asymptotically between March - November 2020, when I had a positive antibody test.

I also know several people who only knew they had it when they tested positive, because they were testing for work.

I had an antibody test at work which came back positive, total shock as I had no symptoms at all. I was fit and healthy all last year and worked throughout.

One of my adult sons and my teenager tested because I got covid. Both tested positive.

Adult child had a slight tickle in back of his throat for two days. Would never have thought anything of it normally.

Teenager had a headache. Not even a bad one. He took paracetamol once then didn't bother taking anything after that.

A colleague and a friend both tested +ve with no symptoms.

I only isolated because my dp had mild symptoms. I felt a little warm for an hour or so but no different to a hot flush which I regularly have! A few days later I lost my sense of taste and smell but that tends to come after the most infectious stage.

All the cases that have been reported at kids school are coming through with almost no symptoms

My cousin ( 57) tested positive when her elderly mother was hospitalised with Covid. She said she had not a single symptom for the entire 10 days she was in isolation. Had she not done a PCR test she would never have known. I suppose it is possible she had a false positive but both her 20 something children who are at home also tested positive. They were actually ( mildly ) ill but their mother had nothing at all.

DS was symptom free and I wouldn’t have tested him if I hadn’t tested positive. If my vaccine had held we’d never have known he had it. He’s 8.

I only knew I had it because I reported headaches and a runny nose on the Zoe App and was asked to test, had a positive result. Never had any of the big 3 symptoms and fully recovered within 48 hours.

College tested positive for antibodies. Had no clue she had had it.
A neighbour also had antibodies but had no symptoms, her husband felt really poorly but had no antibodies.

My Dad, who is elderly and has MS, in a nursing home, and has been in and out of hospital for various procedures and things connected to his MS since the first lockdown. He had to go in to hospital back in July and they did a covid test before admitting him to a ward, to our shock he tested positive. He didn’t even have a cough let alone any other symptoms and recovered easily. We’d all dreaded him getting it as we really thought it wouldn’t end well but it was absolutely fine.

I sneezed a few times and had a slightly runny nose but like a pp I was asked by the Zoe Covid app to take a test which came back positive. Didn’t feel at all ill.

I would never have suspected I had covid if I hadn't lost my sence of taste and smell.

I had low level aches and pains for a week but it wasnt flu level and it wasnt in the three main symptoms. I was thinking it was my ancient matress and had moved into the bottom bunk when I noticed my new years wine was a bit of a let down taste wise...

I tested positive end of this Jan. Had nothing but excessive tiredness. No cough etc. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't been tested.

Know loads of people who have had mild or no symptoms. Strangely loss of taste / smell is higher up the list of symptoms than cough among my cohort

There must be loads of people who’ve had it and still don’t know they did.

My sister is a nurse and has had it twice. Only found out because of being tested in a study the first time and only found out on a lateral flow test confirmed with a proper test the second time (a year apart). She had no symptoms at all, not so much as a scratchy throat or feeling a little tired. Nada.

I had an antibody test in January which was positive, no idea when I had it, no symptoms at all.
