Burning tongue and metallic taste in mouth

I've had 2 doeses of vaccine. (Over 3 weeks past 2nd dose)

Last few days I have been sneezing occasionally and a SLIGHT scratchy throat. Very like hayfever.

Yesterday and today I feel like I have burnt my tongue on hot coffee but I haven't burnt myself.

And in last few house I have a metallic taste in mouth.

Anyone had this? Does it sound like covid?

I work in a very busy location that has had a lot of outbreaks.

Lateral flows negative.

I have a PCR booked.

Thoughts?

It could be covid.

Equally, metallic taste is a pretty well known symptom of migraine. It can come just at the onset of a migraine or sometimes (less commonly I believe) is the only symptom .

Covid PCR test results are back super quick these days -12 hours- so hopefully you’ll know soon.

Definitely sounds like covid, but not necessarily.

The vaccine is highly likely to stop you getting seriously ill, but a number of people double jabbed will still have a symptomatic infection with this new variant.

Metallic taste can be an early pregnancy symptom.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/06/2021 11:58

I had a strange taste in my mouth yesterday and had a test which was negative. I got the results back in around 14 hours.

100% not pregnant have ruled that out. Thanks though. Worth checking.

My sister lost her sense of taste (everything tasted metallic) two weeks after having the vaccine. It lasted for two days. Could be a side effect depending on when you have had the vaccine.

My 2nd was mid April

I had COVID at Christmas. Started out feeling like a cold but then I had the burnt tongue thing too (as did ds1 who also tested positive). Cough started a day or two later.

Breadpapercone · 08/06/2021 17:17

That's interesting to know. I feel really guilty though if it is positive and that's been a symptom. I just assumed I had burnt my tongue and not remembered. (Obviously that still could be the case)

I got a metallic taste in my mouth after my first vaccine.

BarbarianMum · 08/06/2021 17:21

You shouldn't feel guilty, it's hardly a classic symptom. When ds1 got his "cold" we assumed exactly that - that he had burnt his tongue. When I got the same (but knew I hadnt burnt it ) plus a bit of a cough we started to get suspicious. But even then we tested very much "to be on the safe side". Gobsmacked when they came back positive.

Hi, just wondering if you got to the bottom of this as I have exactly the same thing?

Darbs76 · 01/08/2021 22:26

I didn’t have a metallic taste. My taste and smell didn’t go until day 5/6 and it was gradual for a day or so then went completely. It’s worth getting tested, my LFT were negative at first (tested daily as DS was positive) but I did catch it and had a headache for 3 days so think I was positive during those initial negative LFT
