Amber list Covid test, need to be away. What to do?

Hi,
All things being equal, in August I'm due to travel to an amber list EU country for work and then to the Caribbean on a family holiday 4 days later - currently also an amber list country.
Does anyone know what happens in this sort of situation if you're not in the UK to take the second test, 10 days later after arriving? I'm desperate to go in holiday, like everyone else I guess, but don't want to break any rules!!
TIA

Not sure what you mean, sorry - do you mean you are going to an Amber country, coming back to UK, then 4 days later supposed to be going on holiday?

That would be breaking the 10 day UK quarantine so can't be done. Or do you mean going from the first amber country direct to the second? Then surely your issue is what the rules on entering the second amber country are.

Surely you can’t do this. You need to quarantine after the first trip.

NewIdeasToday · 08/06/2021 05:09

Also many Caribbean islands have been hit heavily by Covid. And their populations don’t necessarily have access to NHS type healthcare. So it’s really important that you don’t cut corners and risk traveling there without proper quarantine from your first trip.

You can of course leave before the 10 days are up, you have to quarantine until then and still pay for the day 2 and 8 package, but travelling to an airport to leave the country is one of the reasons you’re allowed to break quarantine. It’s on the govt website.

Enjoy your holiday, sounds lovely!

I’ll try that link again !!

Brew to go with your biscuit OP Wink

Frazzled2207 · 08/06/2021 08:54

I think you can get out of quarantine by leaving the country again if that’s what you mean.
It’s a known loophole

Frazzled2207 · 08/06/2021 08:55

When I say loophole I mean it’s pretty ridiculous that you can be allowed to go to the airport and sit on another plane and mix with others when you should be quarantining. But legal I think.

I think you will have to pay for day 8 test even if not taken though.

Revengeofthepangolins · 08/06/2021 09:13

The whole business of being able to fly out during quarantine is so weird. We have a neighbours who keeps popping back and forth from the continent ans th room or came to check they were quarantining on about day 5/6 and were perfectly happy to be told by the housekeeper that they had all flown home, passing, as the pp says, through the airport and being driven to the airport etc. Really odd situation.

@QuentininQuarantino you're an absolute star! Thank you so much!

@NotABeliever - for the record I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you'd even consider doing this

Sadly it's everyone's business. And you've put it on a public forum.

NotABeliever · 08/06/2021 11:28

I've asked ADVICE on a public forum, not asked for your blessing to go on holiday FFS

Why not travel directly from the EU country to the Caribbean?

Have a lovely time! @NotABeliever enjoy the sun and Rum 😬

Chasanddive · 08/06/2021 11:53

This is how it’s bloody spreading! I’m getting rather sick of these selfish ignorant holiday makers. I’m sitting here on my third separate week in just a few months, with my kids in isolation having to take unpaid leave from my work. 100 kids were sent home from my kids school to isolate. Fair enough go on holiday but stick to the quarantine when you return.

strangeshapedpotato · 08/06/2021 12:02

You'll be arrested at the airport.

The link above is about foreigners travelling to the UK, NOT UK citizens globe trotting in the middle of a pandemic Biscuit.

Don't be ridiculous! No one will be getting arrested! Hmm
