Anybody had an allergic reaction to vaccine?

I'm as pro-vaccine as they come and not in the uk, just to get that straightc Smile. Also I'm not an allergic normally so don't know what to make if this, so if you have experienced this either by vaccines or with 'normal' allergic reactions, please tell me about it.

Had my pfizer two weeks ago all fine, it has been a downhill slope ever since coughing, wheezing, tight headed (thought I had fluid in the ears) tight tight mussels in throat and culminating these past few days in waking up face and neck double in size (visibly double). So much so it couldn't be explained by cold etc. Now on antihistamines, swelling a little better and being referred to allergi clinic.

But have you experienced this? Can allergic reactions really develop so slowly into full swelling after two weeks?

I thought severe reactions happen within 15min-
2 hours

Giantrooster · 07/06/2021 20:49

Me too once, didn't think it was an allergic reaction until the swelling appeared 9ish days on, thought it was a nasty cold.

Have you spoken to your GP? When I got mine, the vaccinator stressed that if you experience any side effects not listed on the info leaflet you need to contact the GP.

Giantrooster · 07/06/2021 20:55

@Anoisagusaris spoke to gp today, he just prescribed antihistamines, couldn't ba to see me even, just referred to allergy clinic to determine if I can have second jab Confused.

Found on Dr. Google that several experience swelling of eyes and mouth 2-3 days later but nothing like this.

That's why I'm wondering about allergic reactions in general time wise.

My husband told me about a case of someone he follows on Instagram who had it and his lymph nodes in his swelled up huge. Sounds similar to your symptoms?

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 07/06/2021 23:52

My neck and armpit swelled 3 days after AZ and took two weeks to settle down

Giantrooster · 07/06/2021 23:57

@WineGetsMeThroughIt no not lymph nodes, general swelling, but thanks.

@GoodbyePorpoiseSpit
Sounds more like it, was it all over your neck and have you had your second jab? Did they give you any explanation/treatment for the swelling?

Have you got mumps? I had an awful reaction to the Pfizer, full on rash all over my body but it happened within 5 mins. I would have said your swelling isn't related to the vaccine personally as it's so long afterwards? Have you eaten anything different?

callmemaybee · 08/06/2021 00:16

My friend had an allergic reaction the COVID vaccine (can’t remember which one) and ended up in A&E. she had severe swelling which was onset the same night as her first jab

Giantrooster · 08/06/2021 00:24

Oh @sherlockhomeless not eaten anything different at all, but you say something. When I had mumps the swelling was so severe it left me deaf on one ear (permanently).

No, and I’m allergic to everything: cats, horses, pollen, dust, yeast etc etc. I’ve had two doses of AZ with, to my surprise, almost no reaction except a slightly sore arm.
