If you fainted after your first dose, how were you after the second?

I'm having my second AZ at the weekend and just curious if it's likely to happen again. It's in the afternoon in a lovely tourist spot so we were planning on making a day of it. But if I'm likely to faint again I think we'll skip dinner and head home (with a McDonald's instead Grin)

Can you tell us more about your fainting episode, what happened exactly and when, as that affects the advice.

I was in the waiting bit where you sit for 15 minutes afterwards. I had a couple minutes till I could go when I got really light headed. I asked the volunteer watching for some water and the next thing I knew she was holding me. I got really shakey too while recovering in the little side bit.

You’ll be fine. Just tell them you fainted the first time and they will keep a close eye on you. I sometimes go into shock after a jab but have been fine with both my AZ vaccination shots.

I used to always faint after vaccines, my tip would be to have a hard boiled sweet whilst having it for the sugar, and take a drink to have afterwards.

This is reassuring! I've always been a bit more prone to fainting, but I'd never fainted after an injection or anything before. The actual jab itself I could barely feel! I'll definitely have a sugary drink on hand and some sweets.

I'm mostly excited about our little day trip

I volunteer at a vaccination centre. Tell them when you turn up for your 2nd and they will keep an eye on you. If you need a little longer in the post jab recovery area that's fine. Take some water or sugary drink for afterwards. We're well prepared for people who might feel a bit wobbly afterwards. Good luck!

My husband nearly fainted the first time, exactly as you described. He was fine the second time. Just a bit tired and feeling a bit crappy by the evening.

So just coming back to this to update incase anyone else is going through the same.

I had the jab, didn't faint. Haven't had any side effects at all yet even though I was feeling rough af by this point first time. We had a beautiful day at the beach and despite the car battery dying outside the vaccine centre we had a fab day.

Glad it went ok and you had a nice day. I've had my 2nd today and so far, do good.
