My surgery has texted offering appointments from 5 weeks after 1st. I've tried researching optimum time but just coming up with 8 weeks. I'm in 2 minds about whether to wait till 8 weeks or have it now at 6 weeks approx. I'm mid 40s and in an area where cases are increasing (one of the higher ones in England)

The research indicates that 12+ weeks is optimum, much like other traditional vaccines.

I delayed mine, I guess to answer your question (from my viewpoint) it would depend on your risk factors and how much you mix with people.

Thanks. I mix with a lot of ppl due to work and have high school kids. So I am considering the earlier but so much of what I've read recommends waiting at least till 8 weeks.

DH had his at 5 weeks. We are aware of the likely benefit of having a bigger gap but for our circumstances we felt having both jabs sooner was the more sensible route for us. I had an 11 week gap as was already due my second when talk of bringing forward doses started.

Thanks. Do you know why there is a benefit in a bigger gap with AZ?
