If you experienced AZ first dose side effects (fatigue) was second dose better or worse?

I've had my first dose of AZ and it has knocked me sideways a bit. I went with family and they feel the same after the jab. Fatigue and low motivation still lingering more than a week later. I'm still glad I had the vaccine though but slightly concerned about going through this again after the second dose. Having said that, I hear the second dose of AZ is easier. Is this true?

2nd was much easier. No side effects at all.

CovidCorvid · 01/06/2021 23:02

Dd was better with her 2nd dose than her first.

Arbadacarba · 01/06/2021 23:06

They were about the same in severity, but the side effects came on more quickly after no. 2. Took about 18 hours after no. 1 to start feeling unwell; after no. 2 it came on after about six hours. Both lots of side effects went within 24 hours. I had no. 1 on a Friday, but no. 2 was midweek and I just about managed to struggle through a day of WFH after it, with a few rest breaks.

MarjorieBouvier · 01/06/2021 23:07

Much, much, much better 2nd time round.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 01/06/2021 23:09

I haven't had my second yet but my husband had his. Second time he had no side effects at all. Not even a sore arm.

Everyone I know that has both found the second easier. Pfizer people say the opposite first is easy and second is bad.

GCITC · 01/06/2021 23:10

Much better after second. Only got a slightly sore arm. With the first it was like a hangover from hell.

flashbac · 02/06/2021 00:00

Good to hear 2nd not as bad. Right now I feel like I'm in the early stages of pregnancy (I'm definitely not pregnant).

2nd way easier for both me and DH. both of us returned to work the same day.

starfish4 · 02/06/2021 08:20

I just felt a bit chilly for an hour, six hours afterwards. I had this first time around. I didn't have any of my previous symptoms. DH had nothing on second vaccine.

Fruitinator · 02/06/2021 08:26

Both DP & I were really quite ill after our first AZ dose. Fever, headache, sore arm & fatigue.

Quite worried about 2nd dose.

Absolutely fine. No symptoms at all. I didn't even get a sore arm. My Parents & a Friend reported the same.

Reloxa · 02/06/2021 08:27

Better with the second - very tired after first, nothing at all with second beyond a very slightly sore arm (could still sleep on it)

viques · 02/06/2021 08:28

First one I was wiped out with tiredness for a day and a half. Second slight ache in my arm for a couple of hours.

rabbitcow · 02/06/2021 09:16

2nd one much easier. I had a fever with the first and felt ill for a good couple of days. Nothing like that with 2nd one, just a wee bit tired.

Intercity225 · 02/06/2021 09:20

The first jab caused what felt like the worst flu ever for about 4 days. The second jab - a bit tired and slight nausea on and off for a day and a half!

Amortentia · 02/06/2021 09:31

Felt absolutely shocking after the first, took ages to feel normal. I was really worried about the second but felt absolutely nothing, not even a sore arm.

Auntienumber8 · 02/06/2021 10:29

Felt dreadful after first, slept for ten hours and took couple of days to feel ok. I had my second yesterday. I dozed on and off for five hours and have woken up not quite back to normal but so much less fatigued than last time. Plus my arm doesn’t hurt, it really did the first time but I thought it was because the nurse this time injected further up my arm were there is more padding. DH was not fatigued either time, he has just had a 20 minute row on his rowing machine. I hear anecdotally that women seem to get more side effects.

MeanderingGently · 02/06/2021 10:39

The second was so much better for me. My first AZ jab had me in bed the next day....shivers, headache, chills, just feeling utterly rotten. It went completely after a day.
I was expecting the same the second time round and had booked my jab before a day off, expecting it to be in bed again. But no, nothing. I had a lovely day to myself, no ill effects at all. I was sleepier at night for a couple of nights but that was all. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Livpool · 02/06/2021 11:16

My DM experienced the same as you with her and had no side effects after her second

idontevenknowanyonecalledblurb · 02/06/2021 11:18

Just had my second and no side affects at all

rainbowandglitter · 02/06/2021 11:19

I had terrible side effects the first time but the second dose gave me no effects at all.

friendlycat · 02/06/2021 23:15

Experienced fatigue and felt under the weather for a good 24 hours after first. Second last week and just a sore arm and a slight swelling of arm immediately afterwards that rapidly disappeared. Did not experience any of the other first aftermath.

DarceyDashwood · 03/06/2021 07:20

Second was way better! Felt quite rough (like a bad hangover) for 48 hours with the first one and a really sore arm. Second one I felt absolutely normal apart from a slightly sore arm for 24 hours.

Ypsilanti · 03/06/2021 08:21

Had my second yesterday. I’ve a mild headache and I feel tired, but it’s nothing like my first. Arm is absolutely fine.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/06/2021 08:51

I had my second late yesterday too. I was rough for a week with the first and then another week of tiredness.
I have a painful arm again and I feel very flat and a bit fluey this morning, I am hoping it wears off quickly.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 03/06/2021 16:03

I had chills and felt unwell starting about 6 hours after my first, which lasted about a day and a half.

I had the second yesterday, and had an awful night - the nausea and dizziness is just wearing off now, 24 hours after vaccination.
