Having a wobble about second AZ.

It is tomorrow, and I am really scared. The news about the blood clot risk came out just after my first dose, so I didn’t factor it in last time. Now it is a bit more of an issue I am really worried. I realise it is rare, but I am very anxious. How have others dealt with this ?

Another one who had second AZ jab and not even a sore arm this time round.

Chillychangchoo · 02/06/2021 12:21

@bluejelly

The nurse was wrong. There have been clots after the second jab. I don’t know why people take what nurses say as absolute gospel. My sister is a vaccination nurse and even she will say they all believe in different things and have the same “facts” that the public have access too. To take what they say as absolute gospel is a bit naive.

@PixieDust28

Poor comparison with the pill. Clots from the vaccine are more fatal, and contraception provides an ongoing benefit to ones life. At 28 the likelihood is you would have survived covid anyway.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/06/2021 12:44

No I have never taken the pill.
I know that the risk is extremely small, but death is quite a risk to take.
I would feel better having a different vaccine but there is no information on the safety of that yet, so unless I get into more of a panic later I will most probably go ahead and get it done.

Well I have had it. I started to tell the nurse that I was worried about the risks and boosh she did it so that is that !
My whole arm hurting a lot this time though, last time the injection site was very painful but it took about six hours for it to start hurting. This time by the time I got back in the car it was painful into my fingers. Injection site is higher up this time, maybe that is why .
Now I am hoping that I am not as ill as last time, as well as worrying re the clot risk.

I hope you feel better than last time, Vix. Try not to dwell on it as anxiety (particularly health anxiety) can lead to physical symptoms - awful but true. It’s great you’ve got it over with anyway, isn’t it?

MrsFezziwig · 03/06/2021 00:32

Wishing you well OP. As you say, the data is not yet out on the mixing of vaccines and I’m really baffled by the number of posters (I don’t mean you by the way) who complain that the vaccines were tested on too few people but are happy to put their faith in the vaccine mixing trials which have involved only a few hundred people as opposed to the tens of thousands in the vaccine trials themselves.

I think we’re all well aware of what symptoms to be particularly aware of in the post vaccine period so hopefully all will be well.

There are about a million other threads on this if you are looking for info.
Yes. Why are people unable to use the search facility

I did use the search facility.
Why bother posting on a thread just to be unpleasant to someone else ?

Apparently the only reason they said risk less from the second was because not as many people had had second so as no. Of people goes up so does no of clots.

I've delayed my second and am thinking about it

ICanSmellSummerComing · 03/06/2021 12:24

It's a fluid situation, info and indeed posters changes most of the time so you'll always get different responses.
