Losing hair post covid

Anyone else experiencing hair loss after covid?

I had covid at the end of March - was unwell for two weeks with headache, fever and problems breathing.

The last two weeks I'm had so much hair falling out - every time I brush my hair it's scary how much comes, even more when I'm showering.

I've read it can happen after a bad illness esp when it's fever.

I'm taking zinc and vitamin d supplements. Just wondering how much hair I'm going to have left!

Hello! Yes, I had this a couple of months after Covid. My hair is my pride and glory, so it was distressing to be losing so much of it! I'm nearly 47, so wasn't even sure if it would grow back properly. But rest assured, it is getting there! I am taking a high quality multivitamin and am using Champo (the 'Pitta variety') shampoo and conditioner. I am now seeing regrowth and baby hair around my temples, which is funny at my age! My hair feels thicker and I am losing so much less of it. Rest assured, it goes get better!

Yes I had clumps falling out for 3 months but it's grown back really fast since then. Incidentally my nails have been growing very fast too (I had 'covid nails' too, a dent right across the nail). Alyssa Milano posted a video demonstrating her covid hair loss: m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vae08R13PcE

Her hair loss in that video was very mild compared to mine.

I had post covid hair loss. I was losing clumps of it in the shower, similar to post baby hair loss. My hairdresser said they’ve noticed it a fair bit from Covid sufferers so I think it’s quite common.

Mine is growing back now though so it’s not permanent.

Any time you have a high fever with a virus, hair loss is likely to follow 2-3 months after the fact. Same goes if you’ve had surgery. I had a terrible case of flu five years ago and experienced so much hair loss. I took Biotin, Niacin and an Omega blend to help with regrowth.
