Another example of why we have the government led by the most incompetent Prime Minister in history.

@MarshaBradyo

Wonder what happened there. Haven’t really kept up with who and why a reneg
I don't think they really have. As far as I can tell, the guidance is remaining the same. It is still guidance that people should not travel in and out of the area unless it is essential.

This just seems to be the PH officials in those areas, some of who weren't aware of the change to the guidance on Friday confirming that there is no legal restriction on movement.

Glasgow is in lockdown?

Covidatemyhomework · 25/05/2021 18:50

Yet again people whingeing about how unjust it all is. Will be even more unjust when this variant seeds all around the country and we are all under restrictions again. There is an article on the BBC about a particular hospital in Bolton which has had its biggest rise in Covid patients this week. The hospital admissions are going up. The deaths will follow.

@Orangesandlemons77

Glasgow is in lockdown?
Exactly. Scottish government have mounted a quick response for a situation that's nowhere near what they're seeing in Bolton. But it'll all be for nothing if a bunch of entitled people decide they fancy visiting here from COVID hotspots.

Sorry PP. I’m off to the South Coast on my half term holiday as planned. With my nursery attending children. To stay with vaccinated family. The anger amongst my friends & family was palpable this morning, we’ve been locked down for the entire time. We had 3 weeks last summer. While we had to watch the south swanning around & living ‘normally’. Tolerance is extremely low. Everyone is still planning their half term holidays around the country. While they are allowing flights in from India, they can jog on. It is not our fault. It’s the completely incompetent govmt who didn’t do anything to stop the variant coming here cos Trade Deal, haven’t closed any borders & who don’t provide any support to low income families (of which there are many in the affected areas) who cannot WFH & isolation.

Would it be more just to say the unsayable - if you live in a predominately Asian area which has the Indian variant rampant, stay at home. Yea that may mean the non Asian areas get to do what you can’t.

We need to get beyond race if it’s a driving factor

JustABloodyMinute · 25/05/2021 18:58

Not only is Glasgow in lockdown, but they have told senior school pupils In the worst affected areas to stay away from school for 3 weeks. It's not necessarily over for schools yet.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 25/05/2021 18:58

Is 'seeded' the new 'dont you understand exponential growth'?

I wonder what the new 'selfish' will be.

@NinjaJunkie

I bet every single seeded version of the indian variant was brought in from India by those of Indian origin
To be propagated by people of all races who have 'had enough' and want to shop and holiday as normal even if they are travelling from a hotspot area.

No one is better than the other here.

I'm in North Tyneside and it's not a 'predominantly Asian area'. Stop making things up to suit your agenda.

@Waxonwaxoff0

Utterly bored to tears of hearing "the virus doesn't care."

If it's not against the law, then it's not for anyone on MN to tell people what to do.

Enjoy OP. We cannot keep locking down forevermore.
