I had it ystrdy and woke up shaking. I got up and put on a jumper and a dressing gown and took 2 nurofen although my hands were shaking so much it wasnt easy. Bashed the edge of my glass off my tooth. Ouch. No damage luckily, and i feel ok now although a bit achey. I never think im going to side effects. Anyway, if you are having the janssen vaccination take lots of nurofen and go to bed with yr coat on.

I'm sorry that you have had a bad reaction to the J&J vaccine.

Husband and I got it over six weeks ago. We just had a sore arm that lasted a day.

I do think it's a good idea to suggest nurofen, just in case.

Torvean · 25/05/2021 04:22

Where are you that you got the Janssen vaccine? It's one that's get banned in the under 40s in Ireland .

GucciJackie · 25/05/2021 07:10

Im in ireland. Feel ok now. But had a bad night, just waiting for morning. Couldnt sleep.
I didnt know it was banned for under 40s

J&J is a viral vector vaccine like AZ. So like some of us who have had AZ you will get side effects from having it.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 25/05/2021 09:28

A friend of mine had it on Saturday (she's 51, in Ireland). She was similar to you and used the words 'brutal hangover' to describe how she felt.

GucciJackie · 25/05/2021 10:10

For me it was like a speeded up flu. If you have a flu you're sick for a week. This was chills, uncontrollable shakes, then aches and a temperature. I was so glad to see daylight.

I must google viral vector. My friend had it 72 hours before me and had no symptoms at all!

Snap, had it Friday...still remains of a ‘hangover’ today. I also stank of raw meat...horrible I’m a vegetarian

JustMeAndWheatley · 25/05/2021 13:18

I’ve had two doses of it as part of the UK trial. I had these side effects after the 2nd dose. Lasted 36 hours then I felt absolutely normal again just like that. Really weird.

GucciJackie · 25/05/2021 13:50

Oh the weird smell is something ro look forward to.

I watched some vlips on youtube and am reassured that my immune system has responded as it was supposed to.

But the side effects are glossed over. I think that putting tiredness st the top of the list, you dont expect to ne out of commission. So glad i am not in work.

I wonder if my friend who had no side effects already had the right shape antibodies?!

I got a weird metallic taste too.

I think its being changed to the under 40s only in Ireland and only if there's no Pfizer or Moderna.
Torvean · 25/05/2021 22:42

@JustMeAndWheatley hi. For your trial we're you given two half doses?

I'm on a different trial. If you want to talk trial things feel free to join the Novavax part 3 thread. There's a few ppl from other studies in it too.

JustMeAndWheatley · 25/05/2021 22:53

Two full doses.

Yes, I’d like to join the Novavax thread. For a while we had a Janssen trial thread but there weren’t really enough of us to keep it going. A lot of the issues we are going through are the same - vaccine passports, problems with the NHS app etc.

Torvean · 25/05/2021 23:04

I'll tag you in a post. So you can find us.

Torvean · 26/05/2021 04:26

@GucciJackie I got my numbers wrong its over 50s not under. It's was just in the news at the weekend.
It might go down to over 40s, I'm not sure on the medical reasons.

GucciJackie · 26/05/2021 23:25

Blimey. Well, I survived it! Felt fine today.
Altho i forgot to do something important at work today 😬 😳
Id like to blame it on not having been 100%

I'm interested in this as I'm a vaccinator. We did our first J&J clinic last week. Lots of complaints of sore arms before people even stood up, which I never saw with other 3 vxns. Eventually I put in the injection over 5second count and this stopped.
But I likened it to the laundry- hot wash for football gear as opposed to delicates cycle. This dose is doing in 1, what others are doing in 2. I was interested in how people got on later.

GucciJackie · 30/05/2021 10:20

@Covid10lbs yeh, I was fine even the day after the vaccination and my arm didn't hurt at all, except for the 15 minutes I had to wait before I was allowed to leave but my arm has been the least of my worries!

A friend of mine who had her second pfizer had v similar symptoms to me the night of her vaccination, chills, fever......... so they're all doing the same thing aren't they? prompting a reaction from your immune system?

You know how they tell you you're not covered for 28 days, does that just mean that they didn't test to check if people were protected against covid for 28 days? I feel like I don't understand that part. If i had the immune response, why wouldn't I be covered already?
