Anyone had 2nd AZ after 8 weeks, not 12?

I'm going away end of June, when my 2nd jab was due at 12 weeks.

Just got my appointment with availability from 8 weeks after. I've booked it as I've seen articles saying from 8 weeks is OK now.

The Lancet and BMJ say after 6 weeks you have 55% protection but after 12 week gap it’s 85%.

Yes.

Some (and potentially many) people may decide that it is better to have somewhat less protection sooner rather than wait for 4 additional weeks but it is a trade off. Speed vs efficacy.

Which I why I gave information rather than telling people what to do in this situation. It’s a difficult decision to make and if may depends on your job/plans over the next few weeks.

The data on AZ efficacy is incomplete - it has not had the same amount of trial time as Pfizer and is believed to reached peak efficiency later than Pfizer. This recent Reuters report suggests an 85-90% efficacy rate, pending further data.
