Are under 40s automatically booked for Pfizer or Moderna in the UK?

I just booked my vaccine on the NHS website...just wanted to check for those under 40 who have booked did you automatically get booked for Pfizer or Moderna? I ask because I'm pregnant and the advice is to get one of the above but there's no option to say you're pregnant on the system. I know the advice is the same for under 40s so hoping this will be done by default because of any age.

I started a near-identical thread on this last week and the consensus was “yes” - under-40s are routed to sites with Pfizer/Moderna. I had the vaccine at the weekend (I’m 17w pregnant) and it was indeed Pfizer.

@EssentialHummus Thanks that answers my question! I've been so on the fence about getting it in pregnancy but I think the known risks of Covid in the third trimester are enough to convince me.

Yes. The site I went to have two queues - one for Pfizer for under 40s and the other line for AZ.

Rainbowsandstorms · 24/05/2021 14:42

As far as I’m aware yes.

ferretface · 24/05/2021 15:02

Yes, the only options given are Pfizer and Moderna. National booking service didn't ask me the are you pregnant question.

Ussernayme · 24/05/2021 15:08

I think it must be so. I'm early 30s and can't find anywhere to book. I know there's a major vaccination centre nearby but it's not letting me book anywhere other than pharmacies miles and miles away that I can't get to, presumably because its only showing places with Pfizer or moderna.

I'm assuming so, one of the big vaccination centres near me didn't come up when I was regularly checking to book mine and I think they only do AZ at the moment so wondering if that's why.

AnyFucker · 24/05/2021 15:21

Yes

Gemzee · 24/05/2021 15:22

I had mine last Fri at a big vaccination centre who I know have used Oxford in the past, but I'm 38 and was given Pfizer Grin

Depends where you are in the country. I'm 31 and DH is 34 and we've both been given AZ.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 24/05/2021 16:02

From NHS booking page ‐
"When you book you'll only be offered appointments for vaccines that are recommended for you based on your age, any underlying health conditions, and whether you're pregnant."

Just above "Book my appointments".

SpringLoadedJizz · 24/05/2021 16:45

DH had his at the weekend, he's late 30s and was given AZ. When he showed up they said it was just AZ they had that day, so if anyone didn't want it they had to leave and wait for a new appointment.
