Just had a completely normal weekend

The first normal weekend in over a year. We saw three sets of friends, ate brunch in a pub and even booked a summer holiday (in the UK). It was so nice to be able to hug and not worry about social distancing.

This is the happiest I've been in ages. Anyone else have a good first weekend of normality?

I’ve just checked swimming here. The next weekend day with any slots is 19th June. Half term during the week totally full.
Both soft plays near here that would be interesting for my 5 year old went bust last year. I have booked trampolining for 3 weeks in advance. Only slot is 8.30am on a Saturday.
I’m very happy things are opening but it’s not ‘normal’

Each bit of normality that returns the better I feel.

Ds went away on school trip today, was amazing to see their excitement.

Other dc went ice skating and other had a friend’s party

I'm throwing a perfectly normal birthday party for my DD10 next week. Can't wait!

Normalise, as PP say having to book is a bit of a pain.

The only thing that isn't going to return to normal soon is long haul travel.

Sort of we went to musuem and stuff but the weather has been solidly raining for days where we are.

It's so weird isn't it, I'm looking forward to a holiday at long last next week.

We had a lovely weekend, went away for 2 nights, ate inside pubs and had some drinks in lovely places.

I do hate having to book so far ahead though, we booked one pub 2 weeks before we went! I’m not normally that organized but everything gets booked up really quickly.

Doesn’t feel back to normal for me but definitely heading in the right direction and I love being able to plan little trips away again.

Yes and it was so lovely. Dh and I went for a pub lunch Friday, went to the cinema saturday morning and had friends round for the evening, went to church on Sunday. It was just so lovely after a year in shielding, if a bit overwhelming. Also looking forward to going on holiday next week :)

I really hope things carry on looking good with numbers etc. This has had such a huge effect mentally on people, I've been much more 'fragile' than I used to be. A bit of normality was just what I needed.

Sounds great, OP!

We did soft play on Friday for the first time since Feb 2020 - I felt quite emotional as DS was so happy to explore and be around other kids. My dad came too which was a bonus and then I could actually go inside their house for lunch!!

Saturday we were home because it was chucking it down but it felt okay because it was a choice. Yesterday we had a friend and her DD round for a play date in the house. Today we had a drink inside a pub.

Yes, a much more normal weekend and totally bloody needed. I hope I never have to experience another lockdown again.
