Pfizer and loooooong period

cornflake12 · 24/05/2021 08:17

I had my 2nd jab on the 14th May
I came on that night 5 days early.
It's 10 days later and I'm still bleeding and my boobs are so painful.

I'm 37 and my periods are over in 4 days. Ever since I got them aged 14.

I've read about heavy periods just wondered if anyone has had them just not stopping and if so did it stop eventually? I'm worried.

Don't want to waste GPs time, yet.

Thank you

Sorry 12th May

Post-covid, my cycle shortened/periods lengthened. On day 5 or 6, when things would normally be over, it was like I got a second wind and kept going for another 5 or 6 days. Much more painful than usual, too. This went on for 3 cycles, then completely back to normal. Had Moderna 6 weeks ago, and exactly the same thing, period doubled in length, although it did arrive on time. Currently on day 6 of 2nd period post-jab, and still quite heavy so just waiting to see what happens...

The way I see it, my body is just reacting to the jab in the same way it did to covid, so I'm not worried. I'm confident that it will settle down eventually!

Can’t comment on periods yet - I am due my period later this week, had my vaccine last Tuesday. But my boobs are sooooo painful, far more so than a normal month. Had a bit of spotting last night too, which isn’t unusual for me before period but this was maybe a bit more than usual so I’m wondering if the vaccine is going to mess with my periods too.

CrunchyCarrot · 24/05/2021 10:17

I would say yellow card it. The more reports we have, the more we can start to make sense of what's happening.

cornflake12 · 24/05/2021 10:35

Thank you
I have just this minute done the yellow card form online.

The boob thing is driving me mad they're not big but they feel it and I live in bralettes starting to think I need an actual bra to support them. Aghhhh

My period was a few days early and I felt really crap on the first day (much worse than usual) but was otherwise as normal. I think it’s weird that the vaccines fuck with your cycle.

cornflake12 · 24/05/2021 11:21

Something to do with the immune response i guess. I have an auto immune disease wonder if that hasn't helped. I had no other symptoms apart from being tired for both shots, it's just annoying me now. Hey ho. One of those things.

AZ - first period the heaviest of my life, second twice as long as usual. But I am peri menopausal so it could easily be that.

QueenStromba · 24/05/2021 11:46

I pretty much had the same after my first dose - normal period followed by a month of light bleeding then a normal period.

MaddieElla · 24/05/2021 11:53

I had started mine the day I had my jab. It stopped it in it's tracks and I'm still waiting for it to start.

cornflake12 · 24/05/2021 15:09

My first period after first jab was heaviest and most painful i've ever had. Then this one is the longest. I'm not so fussed about the small amount of blood, it's the sore boobs that's annoying me.

Just reassuring to hear it's a thing.

Had my second Pfizer a few weeks ago, came on last Thursday. OMG worst period pains for yonks and heavy. I had to get up in the night to sort myself out before I flooded. On day 4 now and lightened, hoping there's not a second wind.
What is the yellow card?

Ilovesweets123 · 24/05/2021 16:08

I was literally googling this earlier!! I had the vaccine on day four of my period. My period usually only lasts 5 days, currently only 8 😔

I was on day 2 of my period when I had my Pfizer. I’m normally fairly heavy for 5 days. Since I had it I’ve barely bled! Very odd.

Buttybach · 24/05/2021 17:55

I have severe endo but my TOTM is usually very regular. But it took 6 weeks from the second vaccine to come and then 2 weeks later I feel like I am about to come on again.
It's definitely F'ed With my body!

cornflake12 · 24/05/2021 18:37

It's strange how it's affected our cycles, but in different ways.

Thanks for the yellow card link.
Onthegrapevine · 25/05/2021 18:09

I had my 2nd Pfizer on the 6th and I’m currently 4 days late. No sign of it coming either!

cornflake12 · 25/05/2021 18:44

I'm on day 13 and period pain has started back up with heavier bleeding. Not impressed! Feel sick too almost constantly

Oh good lord so pleased I found this post...I could've written it...I've been stressing for the last week as I never have periods longer that 5 days and my boobs are like I'm pregnant....all way too stressful when you are ttc!

Can I ask have you periods gone back to normal? Please tell me the spotting stops at some point!! X

Featherfox · 12/06/2021 19:43

My periods have always been like clockwork, even down to the time of day I come on and length. Had Pfizer yesterday and I have come on today (4 days early) Confused
