Dominic Cummings has been retweeting about a study that suggests that
Even if you survive Covid, your subsequent risk of death is increased by 50%. And risk of developing various cardiovascular, neurological or other complications is also increased increased by 50% if you weren’t hospitalized or by several times if you were.
This is not something I want for our children and young people. Even the ones that didn't come out of my personal vagina.
This is the study:

This alone is not as alarming as first take. A 50% increase in risk of death is not much if your risk is already low. Put another way, it was estimated previously that the risk from covid was equivalent to a person's whole-year risk of death.
This study suggests we need to add on half again, making the risk of covid multiplying someone's risk of dying in a given year by 2.5 instead of 2.
But of course it's only short-term. Personally I suspect the risks could be even worse long-term. Will we see a huge increase in mental illness in post-covid youngsters? I hope not, but we know so little about this virus, anything is possible.
