I agree @PrincessNutNuts

It isn't about their policies so much as their utter corruption and the fact I know, deep down, I simply do not trust them to tell us what is going on.

colouringindoors · 22/05/2021 23:44

Just saw this on Twitter. This government makes me SICK.

Dominic Cummings is answering questions from the joint inquiry of the Health and Social Care Committee and Science and Technology Committee on Wednesday morning, isn't he?

I expect we'll find out some more things we didn't know that we didn't know.

SteveArnottsCodeine · 22/05/2021 23:54

I’m not shocked at all. This government are a bunch of absolute cunts anyway, but the way they’ve dealt with schools, school children and school staff throughout this crisis has been especially disgusting. Absolute arseholes who should be ten points behind in the polls and without any public support. Sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case.

strangeshapedpotato · 22/05/2021 23:56

@PrincessNutNuts

Dominic Cummings has been retweeting about a study that suggests that

Even if you survive Covid, your subsequent risk of death is increased by 50%. And risk of developing various cardiovascular, neurological or other complications is also increased increased by 50% if you weren’t hospitalized or by several times if you were.

This is not something I want for our children and young people. Even the ones that didn't come out of my personal vagina.

This is the study:

This alone is not as alarming as first take. A 50% increase in risk of death is not much if your risk is already low. Put another way, it was estimated previously that the risk from covid was equivalent to a person's whole-year risk of death.

This study suggests we need to add on half again, making the risk of covid multiplying someone's risk of dying in a given year by 2.5 instead of 2.

But of course it's only short-term. Personally I suspect the risks could be even worse long-term. Will we see a huge increase in mental illness in post-covid youngsters? I hope not, but we know so little about this virus, anything is possible.

They could have solved a lot of problems by putting all teachers near the front of the vaccine queue.

If people don't care about British children on Mumsnet then where do they??

V misleading post. This is in the 6-months post infection not the remainder of your life. But hey ho lets keep trying to scare the living daylights out of random strangers on the internet 🙄
cronk23 · 23/05/2021 00:05

@PrincessNutNuts it's absolutely not relevant to me living in Wales if there's a covid case in a school in Scotland so I don't see the need for passing on information about cases in schools around the U.K. at all. All it does is create fear but then again most of your posts around this topic are worded to worry people.

PrincessNutNuts · 23/05/2021 00:10

@savethegrannies

They could've saved a lot of problems by not letting it in and letting it spread for months in the first place in 2020.

They could have saved a lot of problems by not deciding herd immunity was the cheapest easiest option and doing nothing to stop the spread from December 2019 to March 2020,

They could've saved a lot of problems by not letting it start spreading again last August.

They could've saved a lot of problems by not letting it in and letting it spread for weeks/months in 2021...

mrshoho · 23/05/2021 00:13

Not really misleading @savethegrannies. I would have thought it quite obvious as we are dealing with such a new virus we won't have lifetime data.

PrincessNutNuts · 23/05/2021 00:15

I believe some people felt that the virus in China was a local problem in December 2019.

And some people thought a new variant in Bolton was a local problem recently too.

Pandemics don't work like that.

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/05/2021 00:15

@cronk one Covid case in Scotland, agreed, probably irrelevant to you in Wales at the moment. 48 cases associated with one 1000 student school in Moray, 250 of whom were isolating a fortnight ago, possibly relevant, because that shows how Covid can spread in schools (not Indian variant either).

What's that Jan? The government are lying about/suppressing data about covid spread in schools?

The only surprise is that this time the press are reporting it.

Just reading about what Dominic Cummings is likely to reveal on Wednesday when he appears before the Commons committee - think the press might have w bit more to report!

Would it be more commendable in your eyes colouring, if posters were trying to scare only people they new well on the internet? Mumsnet is a SM platform. Of course we’re all strangers. But united by shared interests, eg children and COVID, the competence of the government re the pandemic, the honesty or our Prime Minister.

The problem with the honesty of our Prime Minister is that one of the lies of the govt is that Dominic Cummings went to Barnard Castle to test his eyesight.

They're all liars, They all hold us in contempt.

DumplingsAndStew · 23/05/2021 00:37

Why would the government...?
Because they have an agenda heavily influenced by U4T?

Exactly. I wonder who exactly Molly/Michelle Kingsley is (or was) sleeping with. She's got her feet right under someone's table.

Unless anything he wants to 'reveal' is going to make us safer, I think he needs to shut up until the enquiry takes place. The last thing we need is him undermining the Govt Futher.

Most of us know it's a complete shit show, but the last thing we need is for people to feel even more justified breaking any rules

colouringindoors · 23/05/2021 01:01

JanFebAnyMonth

Not really, I was just expressing relief that, as someone who's had Covid I'm not 50% more likely to die soon!

I am totally united with anyone who challenges this government.

colouringindoors · 23/05/2021 01:01
