This has been mentioned a lot on various threads, @ProfMakris has tweeted an interesting view on VITT cases after the 2nd dose AZ vaccine which may reassure some of the people worried about the second dose!

I am in the same boat and feel slightly reassured, but at the same time not many younger people have had their 2nd dose yet so it remains to be seen!

Prof Makris is fabulous isn't he. It's clear how frustrated he is about the lack of clear information on this.

Bubalie · 22/05/2021 18:09

@whataballbag it helps me immensely to read his tweets and put things into perspective when it all gets too much for sure Smile

He’s been brilliant during this and is really pushing for more transparency. I’m slightly reassured to see that as of yet he hasn’t seen any classic cases of VITT after a second dose but like you I’m also concerned that not many younger people have yet had their second. I’d also be interested to know more about the cases that have been reported as VITT after the second dose. Wouldn’t it be amazing if there really isn’t a risk after the second dose or only a very tiny one. Hopefully we’ll know more over the next few weeks.

Very reassuring. Thanks for posting OP.

Amazing post OP thanks so much. Had a big of a wobble today (self inflicted Grin) after my second dose and this really reassured me.

MiniMaxi · 22/05/2021 23:01

He’s great. Fingers crossed.

I think it’s so irresponsible of MHRA to publish numbers without further explanation.

It’s clear from threads on Mumsnet how much anxiety this issue is bringing to people, and they must be aware this fear will cause many to not complete the full treatment.

NicoleKidmanSuperFan · 24/05/2021 20:46

@User657849 I agree. I thought it was me who was only hesitant but the amount of threads imply that the government need to provide more reassurance.

User657849 · 24/05/2021 20:53

@NicoleKidmanSuperFan, the Daily Mail have reported today that the second dose cases have been milder.

They didn’t mention any deaths, so hopefully, none of the 15 people have died.

Surely you'd be crying foul if they DIDN'T post the numbers if they have them!?

The issue is that when a case is reported, it goes in the book immediately. Investigating the circumstances surrounding each case takes time and effort. Nobody wants to be the person who calls anything wrong here.

Are you being sarcastic?

NicoleKidmanSuperFan · 24/05/2021 22:40

@Dustyboots what do you mean?

User657849 · 25/05/2021 07:27

@Dustyboots, what? Seriously?

@strangeshapedpotato, I do want the numbers, but I don’t think it would harm if they made a note saying they haven’t yet been confirmed as VITT.
