If you’re under 40 and have recently had your first dose, which vaccine was it?

Apologies if this has been asked 100 times, I’m not a frequent visitor to this section. I’ve spent a happy few hours on the phone today to both 119 and my GP, collectively no fucks given at either so I’m chancing MN Grin.

I’m mid thirties, pregnant, got a text to book my vaccine this morning. The guidance for pregnant women is to receive Pfizer or Moderna. There’s no “Are you pregnant?” as part of the booking process, but a (non-pregnant) under-40s friend nearby said that when she booked she was routed by the system to a site with Pfizer. Are under-40s routinely given Pfizer, or is it a matter of luck on the day? I don’t want to waste an appointment I can’t use, if nothing else.

Last week, had Pfizer

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/05/2021 06:44

I am sure ‘they’ are bothered really but a line had to be drawn somewhere and we only have so much Pfizer and Moderna. Us over 40s having accepted AZ in big numbers has allowed the vaccination program to continue at pace at a national level hopefully getting us closer to heard immunity and freedom. AZ is an effective vaccine with a tiny risk and the risk of Covid to over 40s is higher enough to justify giving it. It we had Pfizer for everyone to have a vaccine in the same timeframe then I am sure that’s what ‘they’ would have done once the risks emerged.

  1. Had pfizer yesterday
BigGreen · 21/05/2021 06:49

39 had Moderna this week

Whitewolf2 · 21/05/2021 08:21

37 Pfizer on Tuesday. From what I could see on the booking site in our area only those that were set up to store Pfizer/Moderna were available - had to travel a bit further.

Raindancer411 · 21/05/2021 08:26

Hubby over 40 had Pfizer as that was what was at the centre. I am booked in there now and hoping it's Pfizer as I am 39.

Retrievemysanity · 21/05/2021 08:30

I’m 39 and had AZ on Wednesday but I had booked it just before they changed the guidance. All my friends who booked subsequently have had Pfizer.

burtiebotts · 21/05/2021 08:42

39 and had Moderna on Wednesday. I’m pretty sure I was only offered sites that had Moderna or Pfizer - my partner is 44 and had AZ at our large local vaccine centre, but I wasn’t offered any appointments at the same local centre and had to travel further for mine.
My friend who is 38 had hers yesterday at a different centre to me and had Pfizer (she was also not able to book at the local centre in our town).

LemonTT · 21/05/2021 09:01

There are very limited supplies of AZ for 1st doses. It is only being issued to sites who cannot use Pfizer. Those are a few pharmacies and vaccine centres who have not yet or can’t switch over.

All GP hubs can use Pfizer. They only get supplied with 1st Pfizer. They would have used up 1st dose AZ weeks ago.

33 & Pfizer, both me & my fiancé.

If you book on the National online site, the under 40’s will only be routed to booking a Pfizer or Moderna jab.

BlossomD · 21/05/2021 16:47

Dh (39) and I (40) both had Pfizer.

AIMummy · 21/05/2021 16:48

Pfizer

EmmaMY · 21/05/2021 16:58

Had mine on Monday this week, I’m 38 and got the Moderna one.

twoticksvix · 21/05/2021 17:06

39 and just had the Moderna this morning.

Chickenandegg8 · 21/05/2021 17:11

38 and had Pfizer this week.

littlepeas · 21/05/2021 17:35

38 - Pfizer a week ago. My sister (36) and brother in law (39) both had Pfizer this week too.

I’m pretty sure the website filters your options to Pfizer/moderna sites only - I had far fewer options than dh, who is over 40.

Mangomoonlight · 21/05/2021 17:38

Had the Pfizer last week

RosieLemonade · 21/05/2021 17:40

30 Moderna.

Kisforkaylied · 21/05/2021 18:14

I had the Pfizer today.

EssentialHummus · 22/05/2021 11:27

If anyone is interested (unlikely) I’ve just had it and it was Pfizer. Incredibly well run at a c London hospital.

39 and just had Pfizer. Yes I think the website routes you to places offering Pfizer or Moderna because it didn't show me some locations that I know exist
