Messed up my vaccine appointment help!

I just can't leave things alone! Angry with myself tbh.

Had jab 1 middle of March. AZ. Jab 2 booked in for June 9th.

Went on booking website to see if I could get it brought forward (not over 50, just under) then bottled it and left website. Woke up to text and email just now saying I've cancelled my second jab (!) Went back on website have rebooked (I think but no email or text yet) but it's booked it as my first vaccine- end of next week. What a mess. Feel like an idiot. I guess I'll just have to phone 119 in the morning to sort out the mess.

The nhs vaccine booking website will not let anyone book a first vaccine slot without also booking a second slot 11-12 weeks later. Therefore I don't think it has booked this as a "first jab" slot. Either it is correctly booked as a second jab slot (which it is) or no booking exists.

The thing to be cautious of is which jab is being supplied to the venue - if you turn up and they are doing Pfizer or Moderna then it wouldn't be appropriate to have the jab - the science hasn't yet been done for the safety and effectiveness of combining different jabs.

However, if you haven't received an email from [email protected] confirming the time of the appointment then I suspect you don't actually have a booking. Calling 119 to check would be sensible.

Thanks for responding 😊 it was weird as I went on the website to change my time if possible this afternoon but didn't go through with it and just deleted the page from my phone and then hours later I see it's been cancelled. Then when I went onto the booking system it made me book it as a first appointment. Wish I hadn't scratched that itch now!

Great.119 told me to speak to the Dr as according to their system I haven't had a jab despite getting an email from the NHS telling me that my second vaccine (on June 9th) has been cancelled.

This is going to be a mess of bureaucracy.

There has often been delays with notification emails and texts coming through so not receiving one is not an indication of the booking not going through. If you have a booking reference number (it shows this on the final screen of the booking process) then you have a booking. I had to wait days for a confirmation text and email to come through - not receiving one straight away is not necessarily an indication that it hasn't worked.

The problem I have found is that you have to cancel your existing booking before you can select a new one. My second is due 4 June and I got a text from GP to book it earlier, but nothing is available, luckily that’s through the GP link, so I haven’t cancelled my original booking.

Bargebill19 · 20/05/2021 08:44

I had my second yesterday. They were double checking by asking if it was your first or second jab, and checking with your cardboard slip (given out at the first jab) and finally against your computer nhs record, before vaccination.
So I don’t think you need to worry, just book and turn up.

Bubby2997 · 20/05/2021 09:38

Emails and texted after booking are taking a while to come through - mine took days to come through by text or email.

Secondly, that's strange surely if you put your nhs number in it would recognise you've had one?

I had my second jab this week. I had to cancel my original app. So I cancelled and re-booked and it knew it was my second jab..

They ask when you get at the vaccination centres anyway and you take your little card. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Are there any walk in vaccination centres near you? You might be able to find out what they are offering from a quick google or you could just turn up and see.

I think a lot of the pharmacies are doing AZ for logistical reasons. If you booked at a pharmacy, it would be easy to get a phone number to call and ask, not so easy to find a number for the vaccination centres.

BTW PP's are right that it can take ages to get the booking confirmation text/email. I didn't get mine until several days after I had been vaccinated!

Thanks 😊 I phoned the pharmacy and am being done tomorrow.

I’ve been waiting a week for mine! I have my booking reference numbers.

Same here, DH and I moved our second jabs forward last night and we haven't received either email or text confirmation. We have kept a note of the booking reference.
