Second dose AZ side effects worse??

Hi

Just wondering if anyone who had side effects from their first dose of AZ, and now had the second dose, can tell me if the side effects were worse/different second time round. I had my first dose of AZ at the same time as my husband. He was absolutely fine, not even a sore arm. I was wiped out for 2 days and not right for about a week. I’m not exaggerating when I say I felt horrible. My Daughter is 10 and only on one other occasion (when we all had flu) have I ever taken to bed for an entire day. I know having the second dose is important but just want to know what to expect.

I can agree with others - side effects from first (for 24 hours), fine with second.

Hmm. I'm going to buck the trend here. Absolutely fine after first, nothing at all.

After second I had blurred vision for the rest of the day, shivery and flu-like symptoms, and slept most of the next day. Not dire dymptoms and shortlived, but the second really hit me. I am immunosupressed though, so it's quite possible that I didn't make a huge amount of antibodies after one jab, and needed the second to get the reaction. Perhaps my second was the equivalent of other's first.

So had my second yesterday late afternoon. Have felt a bit out of sorts today and haven't done much but watch Netflix and crochet for my grand daughter. Nowhere near as bad as last time.

I had a couple of rough days after the first jab, nothing after my second this Wednesday.
DH was less rough but for a bit longer after his first jab. He had his second at lunchtime today and said he felt tired this afternoon but not sure if that was jab related.

Felt dreadful the following day after 1st. Had 2nd, bit tired but otherwise OK.

Nothing with first except slightly sore on arm at injection site when touched , second jab nothing at all

So glad to read this as I felt awful after the 1st jab with temperature, headache, shivering, sinus pain and sore arm. Felt rough for quite a few weeks. Not so scared about having my second now. Thanks.

I was tired after first with a sore arm. Had 2nd 3 days ago and nothing so far inc no sore arm. I had a blood test 6 weeks after my first and am positive for antibodies so seem like it worked!

An hcp said to me that AZ is usually worse first dose and Pfizer and moderna tend to be worse with the second.

But obviously everyone is different.

(Second AZ dose less problematic than first, second of the others can be more so than the first dose.)

Nothing at all second.

Surveys have shown people get worse symptoms with the first of AZ

The second of Pfizer or Moderna are worst. So other way around in general.

Bit tired and light headed the day after the first and had a bit of sore arm for about a week but no different to after the flu jab.
No side effects whatsoever after the second, not even a sore arm.

My MIL bucked the trend too. She felt rough for 24 hours after the first one. Wiped out for about 5 days with the second one, and she doesn’t do being ill.

I’ve got my second dose next week. I slept pretty much the whole day after the first, am hoping for nothing worse than that.

I'm the same as most of the others on here

After the first I had to spend most of the next day in bed with flu like symptoms and it took a week for it to stop feeling like I'd been punched in the arm.

Had second dose on Thursday - was a tiny bit tired the next afternoon and a slightly sore arm (still tender today but nothing like the first time).

The doctor who gave me my 2nd jab said that side effects with AZ tend to be much easier.

I had my second AZ dose this week.

With the first I had a bad headache for about 36 hours and was feverish. As it was a weekend I was able to lay about watching videos.

2nd jab left me headache-free but my arm felt as if it had been bashed by a brick for a couple of days. My watch/app shows I slept for 10 hours on the second night.

I feel absolutely fine now.

DH wasn't unwell with either!

Just try to plan your jab for a quiet time.

Ive got 2nd dose AZ soon and dreading it. Reading here has given me a little bit of hope as I was awfully ill first time around. Here's hoping.

First dose nothing not even sore arm. Second dose bit of a headache on the day I had it but not bad enough to disrupt my day. Had a sore arm for two days after second but no worse than flu jab.

First dose I was wiped out for 2 days with really horrible flu like symptoms.

Second jab yesterday and I feel very achey all over but nowhere near as poorly as after the first.

My first dose I felt slightly delicate the next day, nothing major. Second dose made me feel awful like I had flu, with headache, aches, shivers, tiredness, dry mouth. I still feel tired and not right two days later and my arm hurts quite a lot. I'm glad my side effects were this way round though as I don't think I'd have gone for the second if not!
