Anyone had their second jab brought forward yet?

As per the last press conference.

My second one is due in a fortnight so perhaps that's soon enough for them not to bother bringing it forward?

Mine was due in 8 June but I got a text today saying NHS records said that I'd had both my jabs so they were cancelling it! I got onto 119 and they have rebooked me for Saturday so I am pleased.

PseudoBadger · 19/05/2021 19:21

My surgery messaged the day after the announcement and brought it forward from not yet being booked at all, to come as soon as you can. I'm having it tomorrow so just over 9 weeks.

Toomuch2019 · 19/05/2021 19:21

DH got a call today from our GPs to bring forward from 6th June to Sunday

Bubby2997 · 19/05/2021 19:48

@WhatHaveIFound

My GP surgery phoned me last week to book me in for Saturday so I had a 9 week gap instead of the planned 12 weeks.

DH is at a vaccination centre and if he goes on the NHS website it only gives him the option of cancelling his second appointment, not rearranging it so i'm not sure what he can do.

If you select the cancel appointment button it'll prompt you to re-book straight away after cancelling. You just need to cancel and book again.
WhatHaveIFound · 20/05/2021 08:10

Thanks, I'll let DH know.

Mooserp · 20/05/2021 09:10

I haven't heard anything yet.

I have my 2nd booked for 6 June which is 11.5 weeks from the 1st. I don't want to cancel in case I then can't get anything until a later date.

Redwinestillfine · 20/05/2021 09:12

Is 9 weeks as effective as 12 weeks protection wise? I understand why they're asking people to move jabs forward but are they explaining the advantages/ disadvantages?

Catyness · 20/05/2021 09:14

My DH (52) just had his second one arranged through GP at 9 weeks, fairly sure it's early because of the new approach. Just hope that it's as effective.

Triphazard101 · 20/05/2021 09:19

In my area, several places are doing walk in apts where if your jab was 8 weeks + ago you can just turn up and get the 2and one regardless of when your original apt was booked for.
The centre I went to (for my first jab which was only 2 weeks ago) was almost empty. I was there for 15 min and I think I only saw 2 or 3 other people getting a jab. There were about 5 people administering the vaccines, loads of stewards etc but almost no "customers" (no queues outside either)

MiniCooperLover · 20/05/2021 09:20

My second was booked for 30 June, I cancelled it y'day and went straight in to book again and was offered 9 June 👍

LIZS · 20/05/2021 09:27

Text from gp yesterday with link to reschedule two weeks earlier than original second dose appointment.

0ntheg0again · 20/05/2021 11:27

I had my first one 17 March and have just received an invite to book the second, I just assumed that our GP surgery has gone through all their patients but perhaps it has been brought forward. Not that I have been successful to book it as it shows no appt available. I am 46 with no health conditions.

Mooserp · 27/05/2021 08:14

I've still not heard anything 🤷‍♀️ should I just cancel and rebook??

Motherof3dogs · 27/05/2021 08:35

@Geamhradh

Yes, my second was supposed to be June 3rd. Had it two weeks ago.
This. Dh and I contacted by g p and offered earlier appointments.
GOODCAT · 02/06/2021 21:40

I got my text today to bring my second jab forward. I am booked in for 12 June but as I have to cancel the first appointment and risk both not getting an earlier appointment and a problematic location, it doesn't seem worth it to get it at most 9 days earlier.

What I would like to understand is whether there are a certain number of appointments on hold for those receiving these texts to bring it forwards which would mean I would be selfish not to try and get an earlier appointment.

RedRiverShore · 02/06/2021 22:21

I got an email the other day saying I could bring it forward if I want, I also got a text with my appointment time and day incorrect, the email was correct. DH also got a text with an incorrect appointment time on it. I left my appointment as it was but checked it was correct on the website, I hope too many people didn't get incorrect texts because it could have been worrying for some.

JoeMaplin · 02/06/2021 22:33

Yes lots of my friends are having theirs last week/this week at 8 weeks - were texted and asked to book earlier.

Boofay · 02/06/2021 22:39

Just had appointment through for second vaccination for 8wks 5 days after my first.
I'm 40 and had Pfizer.

Hoppinggreen · 02/06/2021 22:42

Mine was 16th July and I have moved it to 25th June, which was the earliest date offered
DH did the same and didn’t get the confirmation text but like PP he phoned up and they confirmed it for him

Glitterblue · 03/06/2021 00:30

DH and I both had texts this morning asking us to go on the 11th, which will be 7 weeks since our 1st ones.

99victoria · 03/06/2021 00:45

I got a text last Friday saying I could bring mine forward but since my appointment is tomorrow it didn't really seem worth the bother!

whatswithtodaytoday · 03/06/2021 00:51

Has anyone under 40, not group 6, been asked to bring theirs forward yet?

Sh05 · 03/06/2021 00:54

I'm in a covid hotspot and there's quite a few new vaccine centres open where they're urging everyone whose had their first jab more than 28 days ago to come and have their second one. Mines been exactly 31 days so I'm holding out.
They're also urging everybody over 16 to come and get their vaccine.

KnottyKnitting · 03/06/2021 08:06

I didn't wait to be called- we have several walk in centres near here. One Sunday morning a few weeks ago I saw on Facebook that one centre was doing 2nd AZ vaccinations with no appt needed- went down and queued for about 45 mins and got it done.

IloveSooty424 · 03/06/2021 08:41

I am having my second jab on Wednesday next week. It wasn’t due until the beginning of July. I’m 42.
