Hello. Just as the title suggest. My DC goes to an indoor sports activity once a week and we found out that a child from their group has tested positive. Class was on Thursday, we believe child tested positive on the Saturday.

We haven’t heard anything from either the organisers or track and trace. Should my child be isolating? Until haven’t had to isolate so really unsure of the protocol.

I would assume so as it was indoors and the contact was within two days of symptoms starting. Track and trace can be slow off the mark.

I guess it will depend on whether the parents remembered to tell track and trace about the club, whether they have separately informed the club themselves and if the timeframes you have heard are correct.

In the first instance I’d get in touch with the Covid lead for the sports club and check if they are aware of the positive test.

If child was within 2 metres and for 15 minutes or more I would say yes your child should isolate. Not everyone has track and trace so maybe you could ring the organiser of the event and ask as there may be others who are not aware of the positive case.

Thank you, I tried to call the organiser this morning and have yet to hear back. I have kept my DC off school as a precaution. They were I believe not in direct contact but spent around an hour in close proximity.
