Still got headache 5 days after vaccine !!

I had my first shot of Pfizer on Wednesday afternoon. Since midnight that evening I have had a really annoying lingering headache around my forehead. It just won't go, although it comes in waves for severity. I don't think it is anything sinister but it is annoying as hell. My tinnitus has also increased in my left ear.

It is already making me panic for the 2nd shot. Anyone else had a headache this long post vaccine ? Just feels like someone has their palm pressed against my forehead. I have a history of headaches and ear issues but I was in remission before the vaccine. I now feel like I did in 2015 where I had a very similar headache that didn't shift for a year.

I am wondering if it could be a major anxiety headache. I have been terrified of the vaccine due to worrying about triggering my existing dormant health issues, and now this has happened I am wondering if my sheer anxiety might be adding to this and making it worse. But 5 days is a long time post vaccination to still be having a headache if due to the vaccine.

So anyone else had a headache longer than 3 days post vaccine and did it go ?

I’ve come here to ask the same question! I had my vaccine Friday morning and have had a headache since. It goes for a while and comes back but l yesterday afternoon it got really bad that I took paracetamol and ibuprofen and it didn’t shift it. Today it is better but still there. I read that if it hasn’t gone after 4 days you’re supposed to contact your GP or NHS 111 to tell them so I might do that tomorrow if it hasn’t gone.

I have health anxiety which is preventing me from calling anyone and I’m just hoping it goes by tomorrow. As yours has been longer do you think maybe you should call 111 and see what they say?

I was fine after my first AZ in March, but after my second dose two weeks ago, had a headache for 4 days solid, the kind where nothing touches it except a dark room b

@GypsyWanderer thanks for your reply, I replied to your post and just realised you had posted here too.

Yeah I have health anxiety too, GAD, so I have no idea if that is making it worse. But given it is really bad when focusing I am not sure if it can be due to anxiety. Shame that no tablets are helping. Keep in touch and let me know if yours goes, I will do the same !!

I had a bad headache after Pfizer for a day & a minor one the following day, very much at the front of my forehead .. then realised it was more likely caused by my heyfever, I am suffering like mad this year! I took extra antihistamine & I used a saline nasal spray a few times & I feel much better! Could have been vaccine, could have been heyfever 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t suppose it could be something like that coincidently?

Yea definitely. I’ll let you know how I feel tomorrow.

For me I wondered if it’s my period as I’m due today. I do sometimes get headaches before my period but none that last longer than a day. But I’m wondering if perhaps it’s PMT made worse by the vaccine as I have read that some have had worse periods after having it b
GypsyWanderer · 18/05/2021 14:37

@ZammoUK how are you feeling today?

GypsyWanderer · 20/05/2021 16:46

@ZammoUK
I hope you’re feeling better now? ❤️

I had my second Pfizer vaccine and a headache for nearly a full week, but it wasn’t debilitating. I was really tired for a week as well but all ok after that.

@GypsyWanderer Hi. Sorry for my delay. It feels improved but not gone yet, so at least it is positive in that way. I never want to speak too soon though. I am hoping in another week I will be okay. So at the moment I still have the headache but not as bad as 2 days ago. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

How are you now ?

Yesterday was the most normal I’ve felt in a week! But still a headache and weakness but it felt more like a background headache where before I had to lay down a lot to relieve it, yesterday I managed to get on with things as normal. So definitely an improvement. Hopefully it’s the tail end on the side effects for both of us now! Until the next Grin

I've been experiencing a headache for a week after 2nd jab. Not severe but constant. Does it eventually go?!

MareofBeasttown · 12/08/2021 11:47

DS still has a headache abt 4 days after first Pfizer, but it's getting less severe. If not better tomorrow, will call GP.

Cherir20 · 12/08/2021 12:28

I had a headache for 10 days post vaccine. It’s been 10 weeks and still getting them come and go a few times a week along with tinnitus. I’m scared of getting my second vaccine I really don’t know what to do now! Giving me bad anxiety as I keep getting dizzy spells since too (I put off getting my 8 week second dose and it’s not until next week. Scared and unsure what to do!)

Cherir20 · 12/08/2021 12:29

** I re booked it for next week (even though that will be 11 weeks from first)

MRex · 12/08/2021 12:33

Even a slightly raised temperature can make you more dehydrated, which can lead to headaches. Make sure you increase how much water you're drinking, see if that helps.
