Birthday parties - Covid safe

Can anyone please advise me - I’m thinking of doing a bday party for my child who is in reception . I know the rules are now up to 30 people to have a gathering, so would you say 15 children and 1 adult per child can attend? As they are still too young to be left. Thanks.

Yes along as that includes yourselves too, and is outside, then that sounds fine.

Do you have enough space for that many with distancing?

At a park I’d go, someone’s garden with limited space probably not.

We’ve had invitations to quite a lot of parties since end March when the six people outside thing came in (and actually in the autumn under similar rules). They tend to be 4 children invited, I guess on the assumption that the birthday child and one parent will be there - whether other siblings and the other parent actually do stay away who knows. It has meant that we’ve been leaving our child at these small parties for the first time having never left them before at parties pre-Covid.

I guess you may not want to be on your own with a whole class of children though so maybe inviting parents is best for that large a group?

It is up to 30 outside.

Is that where you planned on having it?

Social distancing isn’t required from family and friends from tomorrow. It’s personal choice now. People at the party won’t need to distance if they don’t want to.

I’m glad I asked as I’ve clearly misunderstood the new rules - I thought it was 30 inside or outside! Thanks all for help. I’ll just do a family day and save the party for next year.

Isn’t it 30 indoors for “life events” as long as it’s at a paid “covid secure” venue, I have seen christenings and naming ceremonies mentioned but dont know if they class birthdays as a life event? If not it’s 30 outside only.

You can have parties at soft play etc. 15 children and no more than 30 party guests in total.

What about sleepovers now? Inside and outside (tent) what's allowed for that?
