Has anyone else had this after effect from the vaccine? (VERY LIGHTHEARTED!!)

I had my first vaccine yesterday, felt fine all day. Woke up early this morning feeling a bit shivery and achey, and my cat came and laid on my stomach. Very unusual as he usually ignores me in the morning, as he knows I never wake up and feed him Blush I thought he could probably sense I wasn’t feeling well, thought that was very adorable, and tried to drift off back to sleep. But I noticed he was staring at the top of my arm where I’d had the injection. (There’s no plaster or bruise and I can hardly see where the injection went in.) He then started licking my arm, and carried on watching my arm and licking it for about the next half hour.

Is this a regular side effect of the vaccine? Grin Had a quick look through the leaflet but it didn’t mention anywhere about it turning your normally non-affectionate cat into Florence Nightingale.

Has anyone else’s dog/cat had a weird reaction to your vaccine? Do you think my cat genuinely loves me and was trying to heal me, or was he hopeful of my imminent demise so he could eat my corpse?

No - he's read The Mews and is worried about himself, so is licking your arm in the hope of getting some of the vaccine . . .

I think he was weighing you up for dindins! Bear

LlamaDrama20 Aah. This makes sense. He’s probably seen how far down the vaccination schedule middle-aged man cats are, and is taking matters into his own hands.

KatChocolate This also feels plausible - he could sense my weakness and it ramped up his “breakfast or death” energy. Grin

The vacc. alltered your smell. You obviously now smell like cat food.

You say this is weird - my cat kept sniffing my arm yesterday after mine! Multiple times.. maybe they can smell chemicals or something?! My cat is obsessed with bleach & chlorine, he licks the shower after you’ve bleached it Confused .. he’s def a bit weird 😂

Anyone remember the urban legend about the woman who was touched to find her pet python stretched out in bed next to her, until a snake expert explained that it was measuring itself to see if it was big enough to eat her.

Does your cat also stretch out next to you...? Also, if it ties a bib round its neck and sets the table nicely that's a red flag. I saw it on Tom and Jerry.

Prokupatuscrakedatus I am yellow carding that side effect immediately!! Grin

NotBot My cat loves that too! After I bleach the bathroom he rolls around on the landing floor drooling and purring. And when we get home from swimming he will literally climb inside the bag of kids swimming trunks.
It’s really interesting that your cat was interested in your arm too! There’s definitely something for cats in there somewhere!

JesusInTheCabbageVan I haven’t caught him stretching out beside me too often, but your hypothesis does explain the notebook I found with “how too eet yur hooman” hastily scrawled in it...
