Bringing 2nd dose forward - have you done it?

Has anybody else had a text today and successfully moved their 2nd appointment forward? How did you do it? All I can find when I try is that you can manage your appointments online but there doesn't seem to be an option to change the date, just to cancel the 2nd one. I haven't done that, it's only in a fortnight anyway.

What are you supposed to do? Cancel the existing one and then re-book a new one?

I've watched that video I posted upthread of Michael Yeadon and that's an hour I won't get back. If he hadn't morphed into there's a cabal of globalists that are out to destroy and control humanity (yes he did say that) then he would have carried some credibility giving his background. But he did say that so ergo he has no credibility and it's pretty much him against the rest of science. The internet you are using to read and write this was the appliance of science not wizards and mugwort. He is very rich retired and with plenty of time on his hands having sold his pharma gold mines.

Rebooted this morning for DH, he was due for May 31 and is now booked for tomorrow morning, same venue. It did say on site 350th in queue but it still took only a couple of minutes. You do need to cancel the original 2nd appt. then you can rebook.

Tulipomania · 16/05/2021 17:52

I managed to speak to a real person on the NHS Covid line yesterday.

I was advised not to cancel my 2nd appointment (early June) in case there was no availability sooner than that, and that I would be contacted when it was time to rebook.

DH has his 2nd jab tomorrow, I might just go with him & see if they will do me, what does anyone think will happen?

vera99 · 16/05/2021 17:59

Here he is on why there will be no second wave last September.

I don't think it's all group 1-9 that are being brought forward. I'm group 2 (health worker) and waiting for my 2nd, but I haven't been contacted. My MIL has been contacted to bring hers forward though (age 50+ group)

TheOrigRights · 16/05/2021 22:47

I'm 50 and got an NHS text today. I'm group 9, so nothing special just old

mrsrhodgilbert · 16/05/2021 22:50

I haven’t had a text but just used the website and was able to bring my appointment forward by one week, so I’ll be having it after 11 weeks instead of 12. I was slightly worried cancelling a firm booking but it worked

Tealightsandd · 16/05/2021 23:01

I thought it was all group 1-9? It should be shouldn't it?

I know clinically vulnerable under 50s in my area have been able to rebook. I hope they can (if they want to) in other areas?

Missypuff30 · 17/05/2021 08:44

I went for it and cancelled my 29th appointment. I could have booked 2nd dose tomorrow, but I'm on holiday. Rebooked for 22nd, so one week earlier.

edwinbear · 17/05/2021 11:11

Group 6, was booked for 1st June, just cancelled mine via the wesbite and rebooked for this Weds, I'm really pleased. I wasn't looking forward to a half term appointment with DC in tow.

Watapalava · 17/05/2021 21:29

trying to amend DH but when i go through amend booking it says 'book your first appointment' so its' like it can't find his first? any advice?

Daisy829 · 17/05/2021 21:40

My Dh has had his brought forward by 2 weeks so his second dose is 7 weeks after his first. I’m early 40s and had my second injection 6 weeks after my first as the doc text me to book & when I called they asked if I could come straight down due to a cancellation. They said as long as it’s over 4 weeks after the first it’s fine. My friends GP doesn’t do the second dose any earlier than 8 weeks after the first. It’s all quite confusing.
Originally they said that the vaccines should be 3 weeks apart I think from memory. I guess data is giving them more info all the time. I just hope it does the job.

Watapalava · 17/05/2021 21:44

daisy did someone ring or text him? dh is due mid june and is 50 so is currently 8 weeks past first.

motogogo · 17/05/2021 21:46

I haven't, took a lot of fuss to get 3 back2back appointments. In 2 weeks anyway

Daisy829 · 17/05/2021 21:57

@Watapalava he got a text from our GP today to book his second with them sooner than his original date but his first was done via the nhs site at the local hub. Our GP has been really on it with this vaccine.

Watapalava · 17/05/2021 21:58

thanks daisy

Daisy829 · 17/05/2021 22:01

Forgot to say he’s early 50s. Hope you get sorted.

Tambora · 18/05/2021 13:21

Update - I've just had my second dose of AZ. Our local vaccination centre has opened to walk-ins for those who had their first jab more than 8 weeks ago. A friend saw it announced on FB and she texted me at work to let me know, and my boss said ok to go and get it done straight away. We live near one of the Indian variant hotspots and they are throwing everything they've got at it.

I am still nervous about trying to rebook mine, as message on website says wait to be contacted ... actual follow up appointment is just over 2 weeks away.

BizzyMissy · 18/05/2021 19:25

I tried to bring mine forward and no availability and am now 3 days later!

Tambora · 19/05/2021 14:04

Well it seems like a bit of a lottery then. If you have your next one booked in the next 2-3 weeks, then it probably makes sense to leave it where it is, unless your local centre starts doing drop-ins like mine did.

I’ve just cancelled my 2nd appointment and booked for 4 weeks sooner 👏
