Are we supposed to cancel and rebook 2nd vax appointments?

I had my first vax on 19 March so 8 weeks would be coming up pretty soon. I'm booked in for 8 June currently. I'm group 6. I don't know if I should cancel and rebook earlier (or if that's even possible) or wait to be contacted? I booked via the national site.

I wouldn’t bother. They change their minds so bloody often, who can keep up at this point? They spent months insisting around 12 weeks was good enough so I’d take it all with a pinch of salt

I was wondering the same thing. Seems risky to have cancel up front and then be faced with limited appointments much further away... (and not necessarily before 12 weeks)

Unless you can get to a walk in vax clinic to get it I wouldn't risk cancelling at the moment. I'm in a similar position, currently 9w post first dose, no second dose booked as it's a gp hub system (expecting text later this week), and we have a walk in vax centre open this weekend. I'm very very tempted to head up there today.

I'm sure it said on the briefing the NHS will contact you to arrange it so I wouldn't cancel anything.

DH went online and brought his forward from 23 July to 2 July no problem.

That is quite far away though, many of us have got them booked in about 3 weeks time so there is a risk in cancelling and getting a less convenient slot that may be only a week or two earlier

This is the official advice to vaccine centres

www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2021/05/C1290-COVID-19-vaccination-accelerating-second-doses-for-priority-cohorts-1-9-.pdf

Notice that if people are booked for 2nd jab in next 10 days there is no need to bring it forward, just those after 26 May, and the centre should contact you.
