Can i still have vaccine with cold

Hi, dh & I both have first vaccine today. I've had a virus for 3wks now been quite rough but just at the slightly snotty stage now. Defo not covid symptoms don't match. Dh started to feel rough yesterday, probably getting it too. Can we still have our vaccines? I've read contradictory advice online.

he NHS advise that you should still go to your appointment to get your vaccine even if you are feeling unwell.

There are strict hygiene and transmission prevention measures in place, so you don't need to worry about being contagious.

However, this is only the case if you are only feeling minorly unwell and don't have a fever.

If you are very unwell you should postpone your appointment.

Most colds would be considered a minor illness.

I went for mine last week and I'd been off work with a virus similar to yours (snotty nose, cough, headache tiredness) I had been tested the day before and it was negative. I rang and asked and they said it was fine and I asked again when I was there and the nurse said it was fine. She said as long as you feel well enough in yourself then it's fine.

Many COVID symptoms are very similar to the symptoms of a cold. I have known people with COVID whose only symptoms were gastro, or a mild sore throat. Please get a test to ensure it is "just a cold" before you go out in public.

That advice is 3wks too late I'm afraid but the symptoms don't match, cases in my borough are a grand total of 3, dh does twice weekly lateral flows. So not at all worried it could be covid.

You can have the vaccine unless you have a temperature.
