News stories seem to be saying hugs will be allowed from17th May. Does this mean social distancing will end, at least in private homes?

covid is airborne...
So what is your recommendation?

@suspiria777

covid is airborne...
and... we all know this, you could be 1 metre away or 10 metres away so if its gonna get you it will, it's all down to chance.
Overthebow · 10/05/2021 17:19

So... no social distancing from friends or family Grin. I'm so happy!

Some of you are deluded. I have family in India. Even the vaccinated ones have caught covid and been very unwell. Good luck to anyone who blithely dismisses social distancing advice.

That is not how it works. It's about viral load. I can't believe we are so far into the pandemic and people still don't understand the basics.

Expanded guidelines have been published following press conference this evening hopefully answers some of the questions raised.

Nor can I. Vaccination exponentially reduces viral load and over two thirds of adults in the UK have been jabbed.

Around here, few people are bothering with it already, thank fuck.

Here too, I'm relieved to say.

I'm not someone who would go up to strangers much. I do naturally like to keep some general distance from people I don't know well. However, I haven't socially distanced from my family whenever we have met, and we don't live close to each other. Fuck that.

I'm glad I took that stance. I've had to spend several weeks at a time looking after my elderly and vulnerable parents over the last few months, and earlier this year my Dad's existing (non-Covid related) medical conditions deteriorated to the extent that he died from them in March.

Bollocks to anyone trying to tell me I should have stayed away from him in his dying weeks and not hugged him.

@LegoCardSwapper

There absolutely is no social distancing anymore. At all. No one is doing it.
Ppl here are doing it. Plus your not allowed 2 ppl in supermarket together unless patents with small children, elderly couple, someone with carer. Also maximum on how many can get in

This board nowadays is just full of people smugly telling those still following guidance that they are pathetic And other posts saying do what you like with the vaccine / stay the fuck at home/ enough is enough I understand the eagerness to move on but its pretty tiresome really.

That's a chance I'm willing to take. My father died from Covid. Life needs to start going on and it's not compatible with social distancing.

SonnetForSpring so we do - what exactly? Stay in economically ruinous limbo for another few months or years?
