Are we supposed to get a covid test for just a cold ?

It seems on MN that's what people do. But in real life, I know lots of people out and about with colds. Going into work etc. I mean just the minor, usual head cold.

What's everyone else doing if they get a normal cold at the moment ? Or if their child gets a normal cold? Not the main three symptoms. My toddler is at home with me and not at nursery. Just want to do the right thing when / if we get a cold.

Also, when will a cold just be a cold again ?

@cantkeepawayforever

I recon they’ll make 2-1 flu and covid vaccine that the vulnerable get offered yearly and those than want it will pay.

I've got hay fever so no I'm not testing for nose, ears etc issues!

Back in October I took a test for a cold . it was an extra nasty cold and I had a mild cough . Negative!

I had a mild cold a couple weeks ago , no Covid symptoms. I didn’t take a PCR test but I am taking the lateral flow tests every few days .

I tested because I felt rough and had a sore tongue and came back positive, no other symptoms. My cousin was full of cold, no cough and tested positive. So personally I would, we've got lateral flow tests in the cupboard to use if needed.

I've been asked by the Zoe app to do a test based on cold symptoms, even though I had covid in Feb this year, no harm to check.

My DD has allergy asthma which annoyingly presents itself in the form of a cough, so when that plays up we do a lateral flow test just to check.

They're already working on that. Booster Covid with flu jab.

When will we be stopping testing for xyz symptom? There was a post here recently where the OP had achy legs and people told her to get test!
