Could all AZ posts keep to 1 thread.

Literally the board is being flooded with the same Qs. If it was in one thread people could find answers. Then we could also see the Corona threads that have nothing to do with AZ , just my thoughts.

You can hide threads, it doesn't take long.

Hiding the thread would mean hiding the whole subject though not just the endless vaccine threads

You can hide individual threads
picturesandpickles · 10/05/2021 07:29

I thought you could anyway, maybe only if you post on them, apologies

I just looked and it does look like you can hide any thread, I didn't know that, thanks.

@User6587324

A separate topic for vaccine would be a good idea then those that are interested in other aspects of CV could avoid them altogether.
I don’t usually agree with boards for loads of different things but in this case I agree. Just looking at the first page this morning and you’d have to hide 95% of threads to avoid repeats of the same questions/discussions. It is taking over.
picturesandpickles · 10/05/2021 08:19

I see limiting threads as a form of censorship. The fact there are so many questions on that shows us how big a question it is.

Is this just a clash wehere people who deal with things by not thinking about them are not happy for the boards to be full of threads where people deal with things by thinking about them?

I guess what I am saying is - what is the issue with these threads being there? If it is just having to scroll, is that really such a big deal?

I just don't read the ones I am not interested in.

I think a separate vaccination board would be helpful. There really are so many threads about AZ etc that I’m beginning to avoid the whole Coronavirus board. I don’t want to miss stats and research etc but it’s too much when 95% of the posts are people scared of having AZ. Or their second dose blah blah blah. They need their own (irrational) board.

IrmaFayLear · 10/05/2021 09:12

I simply don’t understand why people start new threads when they can see their exact same question on 30 threads in the topic.

Of course there are the faux naive anti-vaxxer ones trying to promote the issue every day (same breathless “just wondering” style) but otherwise why are people so self-centred as to think no one else has similar concerns or effects.

Cornettoninja · 10/05/2021 09:25

@picturesandpickles but there aren’t ‘so many questions’ it’s the same questions over and over again with the same answers over and over again. Whilst there is a proportion of posters with an agenda, genuine posters clearly aren’t looking at other threads and starting practically identical ones of their own whilst other topics are pushed down off the first couple of pages.

Other boards (understandably) don’t want to be inundated with corona topics either but the vaccine threads are really out of hand. MN is a bit of an anomaly in this respect, pretty much every other forum I’ve taken part in considers it really bad form to start multiple threads (to the point resurrecting ‘zombie threads’ is preferred which it isn’t on here) on the same topic precisely because it stifles discussion when other subjects are crowded out. As an aside that is actually a tactic used by some groups when they’ve got a particular agenda to push which is why it should be managed generally.

Yep. I looked today and the first page bar 2/3 posts are all AZ. Its no longer the Cotona board it's the AV board.

There's unusual outbreaks currently but noone will see the posts to discuss them as guaranteed there will be more AZ
posts.

I would like to see the statistics. Other vaccines coming soon. Changes in restrictions. Situation in other countries. There used to be a wide range sadly now just one thread I use.

I agree about the multiple threads - whatever the subject. It seems very poor manners to start a new thread when ones exist already. Eg if someone famous dies - you can bet ten threads start up. Of course a couple might be absolutely simultaneous , but mostly posters haven’t bothered to see if there is one already.

This I am afraid is the case for at least half the threads. The OP starts out all unsure then gradually turns very knowledgeable apparently. Argues against any correct information in a interesting way. A lot of these threads seem to be more about spreading misinformation and worry than trying to help anyone.
TruelyWonder · 10/05/2021 10:57

Would like a variants of concern thread and a vaccine update information thread too
