Still unwell 3 weeks after AZ vaccine

Anyone else?

I'm really regretting getting my vaccine. Had AZ 3 weeks ago and I'm still getting awful headaches. It's like being permanently hungover or having a newborn and living off minimal sleep type feeling.

When will I feel like normal again??!!

Hate to say, but Im on around week 6. I do have an autoimmune disease though, which I think the vaccine sent into complete flare up. The headaches are a bit more intermittent, but my tinnitus has been raging. I have reported all symptoms to Yellow Card Scheme.

lurker101 · 06/05/2021 15:04

Have you spoken to your GP. When I got my vaccine I was advised if post-vaccine “symptoms” last longer than a couple of days it’s likely not a side effect and something else could be going on - have you had your iron/vit D/ B12 levels checked recently?

BunsyGirl · 06/05/2021 15:07

I’m the same - well it will be three weeks on Saturday. Feel exhausted all the time, intermittent headaches.

baroqueandblue · 06/05/2021 15:51

Had mine April 1st, been feeling pretty poorly since, over and above the hay fever that has been quite savage this year. Aches and pains, chest congestion, low mood, reflux, raised anxiety, fatigue but poor sleep. I have fibromyalgia but this has been something else, and although I get migraines I haven't had many headaches but have had a lot of the 'aura' symptoms associated with migraine. Not sure I'll have the second dose, just very confusing.

Gothichouse40 · 06/05/2021 16:42

Lurker, yes all checked out and nothing amiss. They think it is down to the vaccine. I don't know if it is coincidence, but I did not have flu vaccine for years, after being ill with that for weeks too.

alabaster11 · 06/05/2021 17:35

Glad I'm not the only one. I keep panicking thinking I've got a blood clot on the brain or something!

I really regret having it done. Not sure I'm going to put myself through this again with a 2nd dose, especially not if I'm still feeling this hellish.

Definitely not just a coincidence @lurker101 happy and healthy early 30s year old who takes a multi vit with iron everyday.

Me too! 7 weeks nearly for me. I’m not usually one for headaches ( now have more sympathy with DH migraines!) but have one most of the time. Neck also sore to touch. Very little energy. Anyone else feel like me?

StressMagnet · 06/05/2021 19:17

I had a a constant headaches that only went when I was in hospital on ibuprofen and paracetamol at the same time every for hours for five days.

Extreme but it went eventually and then I did a course of amitriptyline (sp?) That completely killed it off and I haven't a headache for a month. I'm still waiting to see my blood results. Maybe it was a coincidence but it was a headache unlike any other I have ever had. My second dose is due this month.

bunnytheegghunter · 06/05/2021 19:42

I had a big very sore lump on my arm for 4 weeks and a low level headache for a few days after my first dose and absolutely nothing at all after my second!

Hirewiredays · 07/05/2021 06:59

It took he a good three weeks to recover from the first and the another two weeks for the second. I had my 2nd dose after 3 weeks. I was so boarded for nearly feeling rough for a month and a half.

WyldStallions · 07/05/2021 07:30

Just a thought - multivitamins with iron make me feel constantly yuk. Like morning sickness or a hangover.

Are you sure it's not that? It's not even especially rare I don't think.

LM92020 · 11/05/2021 19:11

I have had my 2nd dose of the AZ vaccine I have what is a really dull headache not anything horrendous that stops me doing my day to day stuff but just an annoying ache !

I had terrible side effect after the 1st dose but 2nd dose I was okay apart from these annoying aches !

I feel worried all the time it's a blood clot!

Please tell me I'm not alone !

I read up somewhere that clots are super rare after the 2nd if it's going to happen it would be more likely after the first dose .

Just can't stop worrying about it

0gfhty · 11/05/2021 19:29

Go your doctor and also fill out the yellow card scheme

Toilenstripes · 11/05/2021 19:36

I’m having my second dose on Thursday and feeling some anxiety. I’m still having it but all the side effects are concerning to me. Then again, I’ve heard that malaria tablets can cause awful side effects for some. Best of luck everyone!

Ninefeettall · 11/05/2021 19:44

I think you're meant to get headaches checked out after the AZ injection. It's quite easy for them to check - a full blood count and something else.

empod · 11/05/2021 19:45

Following... I had my first dose of AZ yesterday and have felt so unwell the last 24 hours. Paracetamol and brufen help for a bit but the symptoms come back again. Felt like I was going to pass out taking Ds to school this morning. Sending 💐 to everyone.

GrumpyTerrier · 11/05/2021 20:41

Two or three weeks for me. I had initial fever but then felt off for ages, real sense of doom and low mood, aches in my armpits (which scared me due to cancer), constipation feeling without constipation, period was all off and drawn-out, headaches, tiredness. I'm fine now, about 8 weeks on.

Silkiecats · 11/05/2021 21:47

I would get checked out if you still have headaches.

I'm only 1.5 weeks after but have lots of aches and pains and sweating so much at night. Just taken some more aspirin.

Porcupineintherough · 11/05/2021 22:05

I had persistent headaches in weeks 2 and 3 after the jab. I never get headaches (even when I was really sick with COVID headache was the one symptom I didn't have). But they did go by week 4.

OvaHere · 11/05/2021 22:15

I'm four weeks out from my jab and I had daily headaches for the first three and it was worst during my period. I had other side effects in the first week too, flu symptoms, rash and itching.

I'm feeling a lot more normal this week so I think it must be abating.

I'm no expert but it was my understanding that it takes around three weeks to reach immunity and fully do whatever it does. Which could explain the timeframe for those of us more sensitive to it.

I'm not thrilled about the prospect of a 2nd vaccine but data seems to suggest most people are not as affected by it as the first.

Pootle40 · 11/05/2021 22:25

A lot of these symptoms could be anxiety and the more you believe it's the vaccine the more anxious you become and so on and so on. Try and distract yourself and you will stop noticing symptoms.
