Had the first email, since they’ve been back, that there’s a positive lateral flow in school. Child has gone for a proper test.
Such a shame. I assume they will start sending bubbles home to isolate again.

If it's one case, it's not likely to be a whole bubble, just the closest contacts and perhaps others not quite that close but who the school knows are particulary vulnerable (yes, that might be shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, but as one case might not be the end of it, it's an extra precaution that some parents ask for and some schools agree to)

Only if there are several cases will the bubble pop

Really? The close the whole bubble with one case at my DC primary school.

Fitforforty · 06/05/2021 15:07

In secondary school only the students they sit next to are set home not full classes.

I think dds school sent home full classes. I think that is more to enable learning to move online seamlessly. Makes sense.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 08/05/2021 11:31

Although I may have git this wrong as dds year unaffected.

Schools follow advice from Public Health England.
This may vary depending on when the advice was given and what the situation was at the time; in school, locally and nationally.

In my dcs school, it's only the children who have sat next to the child who has tested positive who have to isolate.
At first it was the whole year, then it reduced to the whole class and now the above situation.
