Have you previously been infected with Covid and had the vaccine?

Was wondering what your experience of the side effects are, if any ?

I am hearing those who have previously had Covid have strong side effects, I am also hearing that, for those with long Covid, it improves the symptoms of LC.

Getting my vaccine on Tuesday.

Not me, but my DP had mild Covid last year, has had his first jab and only had mild fatigue for a day with it, plus a sore arm at the jab site for a couple of days. Nothing too bad! Certainly not 'strong' side effects.

Hospitalised with Covid March 2020. Have had long Covid ever since. No major side effects with either of my two vaccines (Pfizer), just a sore arm and fatigue for a few days.
My impression is that my long Covid has improved a little since the first vaccination, but as it is a relapsing/remitting illness, this could just be a coincidental remission.
Other long Covid patients have reported feeling better/the same/worse after immunisation, so it is very varied.

DD22 had covid in January. Had AZ four weeks later and had 36 hours of feeling really shitty.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 06/05/2021 08:51

Had COVID ages ago. Had a AZ jab in April-was really so so ill for around 36hours-think temp 41+ and deep joint pain in every joint-even my fingers. Then left with a sore arm for a week. Seems to have helped with my long COVID gut issues.

Had Covid in March. Very mild. Lost sense of smell and felt a bit tired for a couple of days. No side effects at all with jab 1 Pfizer

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 06/05/2021 09:27

I had covid a few months ago. I had the forsy dose of the vaccine in March.
The only side effects I had were a sore arm and a bit tired for a few days. Nothing serious

iamcracking · 06/05/2021 11:38

I had Covid at New Year, mildly, just bad headache, loss of smell and taste.

I had AZ vaccine at beginning of March. I woke up the same night feeling very nauseous and like I had been trampled on by an elephant. I ached all over and had a temperature and headache. I managed to hang a washing load up but then sat down in front of the TV all day and rested and had some co-codamol. I was fine the next day but had a sore arm for a few days. DH had the same experience, he also had Covid at New Year.

Crayfishforyou · 07/05/2021 07:32

I caught covid March 2020 which turned into long covid.
In March 2021 I had my first dose of AZ. For two days it felt as if I had covid again but milder.
After that I felt better than I did before! So much better.
I have my second dose today

Jujean · 07/05/2021 07:52

Yes, had covid earlier this year and moderna first dose last week. Was very sick for a day (nausea, chills etc) but now fine.

PuzzledObserver · 07/05/2021 09:08

I had my first jab 7 weeks after positive test. Very mild headache and felt a bit tired for the next couple of days. 2nd jab - even more mild headache, but more tired and had chills, but only lasted 24 hours this time.

catlady3 · 07/05/2021 09:11

Sounds like you may need to ask what vaccine people had, I think it's pretty well established that there's a difference between AZ and Pfizer, and you'll also want to know people's age as there is again a difference there. I had AZ, don't know if I had covid but suspect I did in late 2019 / early 2020, and felt horrendous for 5 days. I'm in my 30s.

Yes, I have long covid, had covid in October, while I am much better I am still no where near where I was before I had covid, so I am hoping I feel the benefits from that perspective.

Good luck with the 2nd dose, hope you don't have too many symptoms.

I have long vivid and am feeling better after the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine a week ago.

I'm amazed and delighted.

I had no side effects at all.

RuthW · 07/05/2021 12:08

My adult dd has. Same side effects as everyone else. Mild illness for 8 hours or so.

AfterSchoolWorry · 07/05/2021 12:11

Long Covid* not long vivid 🤦🏻‍♀️

Terrysmyorange · 07/05/2021 13:06

Had COVID last Feb , lost taste, tired and the worst sore throat I've ever experienced. Have had both Pfizer jabs and only a sore arm.

peachescariad · 07/05/2021 13:10

+ve Covid with symptoms over NY with rest of family.
Had 1st AZ jab in March. Had very mild Covid symptoms for less than 24 hours (headache and eyes hurt) then all fine. Sore arm for 3 days.

roomfulloflove · 07/05/2021 13:14

Yes I had really bad Covid in March/April 2020, then got really bad side effects from ax vax. I'm early 40s.
Felt worse than Covid for one day, then started to recover.

TruelyWonder · 07/05/2021 13:23

We had heard the same as you OP. My husband was a bit worried too as was terrible with covid. He is a big baby though so I can't be sure if it was all the virus or him deciding he had it bad.

He has now had both doses of AZ

The first dose he had a sore arm and a slight headache for a few hours. Paracetamol sorted that out really.

The second dose he had no symptoms at all. You couldn't even tell where the needle went in.

It is about two weeks since the second jab and no long term effects or anything
