DS, 23, is on immunosuppressants and shouldve been vaccinated with the vulnerable group (but thats a whole different thread!).
Spoke to GP who said yes you are vulnerable we will put on system and send you a link to book. GP sent link but none avaliable for 3 weeks now. He checks multiple times a day but nothing - is this normal?

Can you drive him elsewhere? Is that an option? My colleague did a four hour around trip last week for this same reason because he couldn’t get his locally. Colleague booked online himself.

reducingfootprint · 03/05/2021 22:43

@Lupinhere37 cant go elsewhere as its via the GP, doesnt let him book on the national website as it says he is not eligable so can only do through GP link. We are in Derbyshire.

I would assume that its because your DS can only have Pfizer (or moderna) due to age, only a few areas are doing moderna and Pfizer is being prioritised for 2nd doses. At the hub I work in we have several AZ clinics a week giving out hundreds of doses(we've not been allocated moderna) there is approx 20-30 Pfizer vaccines allocated per week all can only be booked via GP recommendation and are filled up almost immediately once the clinic has been arranged

Get in touch with the doc again and ask him to sort it out. It’s ridiculous he’s not been prioritised and allocated a vax at the very beginning.
Don’t take no as an answer.

Ah, ok op. Sorry, assumed this was a vaccination centre job. I would definitely get him to call the GP and if no luck, I would contact the CCG. I don’t know your area very well but a quick look at NHS Derby and Derbyshire CCG Twitter page shows lots of info and there are phone numbers for vaccines etc too. I’m not a Twitter user, I just googled this available info, so you’ll be able to see it. Get him to speak to the practice manager, if needs be.
Good luck!

It’s normal in the sense that many GP hubs are doing very few first jab clinics at the moment. My GP surgery posted this week that they’d had a couple of deliveries cancelled and were not expecting to do many more first jab clinics at all. Best bet would be to speak to the GP again and try to get moved to the National system, may be a bit easier now that the picture for GP hubs looks clearer.

Similar here

CEV person in household who with severe immune issues, so household qualify for vaccination immediately. Approved by GP about 3 weeks ago

The teens are still waiting as no Pfizer available, despite being highest priority for first shot.

They said back at the start if April that there was a supply hiatus that month. I'm really hoping that it'll be possible soon. Bringing covid back from school is our biggest risk (the CEV condition means there's an uncomfortably high chance their jab won't 'take')

GP arent currently taking calls about the vaccine annoyingly! Will get DS to keep on trying!

I was vaccinated on Derby Arena on Saturday and they definitely were doing Pfizer, probably mostly second jabs. You were directed to an AZ or a Pfizer queue depending on what the system had you for. Probably worth calling directly and ask how to get your son on the Pfizer list in the Arena. Otherwise try 119. Good luck.

Contact the local CCG. There should be an email address. They will be able to identify a Pfizer 1st dose option. Explain he is a CEV and they will do the necessary to get him in.
