Ds had asymptomatic covid but doesn’t feel right one month later

Ds caught covid 2nd April ‘21. He also had it March 2020. This time round he had no symptoms apart from reduced appetite. Since then he still doesn’t have an appetite and keeps feeling like he’s going to be sick, especially after eating. He also gets shakey and sweaty at random times. He’s tired too. Has to have naps in the day sometimes.
Does anyone else have experience of this? I keep telling him to speak to the doctor, maybe he should be checked over. But he’s 20. I don’t know if he’ll follow it up. I feel quite worried about him.

Long covid affects asymptomatic people almost as much as those seriously ill, so I would guess that's what this is.

How did he know he had it in March 2020, was he hospitalised?

Was it confirmed by a PCR test this time round?

I have heard about people with mild symptoms still not feeling right for weeks afterwards.

According to the NHS site, it is listed officially as long covid symptoms that he should contact the GP about after 4 weeks, maybe send the link? www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/long-term-effects-of-coronavirus-long-covid/

The GP might want to consider additional tests, or give him a timeframe by which those should be run. Worth keeping the GP aware at least.

Understandable that you're concerned though. Severe illnesses can take a bit of time to recover from, I hope he'll get better soon.

There is some emerging evidence that covid can trigger diabetes - I would definitely ask the GP to run some routine bloods just in case.

@Januaryissodull he had recently returned from northern Italy so was tested.

He’s said he will contact the doctor which is a relief. Thank you for the link, I’m going to send that to him.
