Valneva trial

NC’d for this.

Has anyone else signed up to participate in the Valneva trial? I’ve got my assessment booked in this week, if I’m deemed suitable I’ll get my first jab then with the second within a month- I’ll admit the lure of being double jabbed by June was the main draw! Will be nice to feel like I’m contributing to the vaccine effort as well.

It’s a comparison trial, so if you’re in your thirties you will either get the unapproved Valneva or the AZ jab (more likely to be Valneva) and you won’t ever find out which it is. After both jabs I have to go back to the clinic for some more visits, 7 total over a year.

Has anyone else signed up, or had their jab already? How are you feeling?

I have had an email as my first appointment is tomorrow, apparently they are pressing ahead with over 30s receiving either AZ or Valneva.

I spoke to my clinic and they confirmed the trial is still going ahead!

I had my jab on 11th. Has anyone had any long lasting side effects. I’ve still got a headache and nausea and it’s now over a week. I’ve had a blood test at hospital and platelets are fine and going for a check up again tomorrow for some more tests. I think if I was a betting woman I had the az vaccine 😢

I had my jab on the 10th, and had a bad headache the next day and felt really tired. Then fine for the weekend but then had an off day the Monday after, just felt lethargic and struggled to get going.

But I've mentioned before, I'm not sure if this was side effects of the vaccine or just life. I I often feel shattered and headachy so can't blame it on the vaccine I suppose.

I had a check up last week and I'm due my next jab on the 3rd.

It's getting very close to my age group now and a part of me does wonder if I should have just waited and got it through normal channels. But I signed up to try and help research so I'm taking that from it.

I got my text to say I could book my vaccine through the national roll out the afternoon of the day I got my trial vaccine! Talk about timing. I'm still going ahead with the trial though. Had my 8 day blood test today.

Sorry, just noticed a typo in my earlier post, I had my first jab on the 7th, not 10th.

Whilst I'm happy being part of the trial, I wish they could give us a better idea of the level of protection the valneva dose could give us. I seem to remember the doctor I spoke to saying it gave similar levels of protection to astra Zeneca but I'd really like to see data to support that. I now and again panic that maybe I'm not as protected as I should be if I'd have gone with the 'normal' jabs.
