Anyone had 2nd jab after quite bad side effects with the first?

Due my second AZ next week, the first floored me, aching, exhausted, very painful arm, very swollen under my arm pit, headache etc. Lasted 4 days, I happened to be on annual leave from work and so was DH which was a blessing. This time I'm back at work straight after and the day after I've got sole care of 2 year old DS. If it happens again I'll manage, but just hoping if it was bad last time it'll be better this time! DH had nothing but an achey arm for half a day.....

Yes, of course

My side effects were less the second time.

WhoWants2Know · 02/05/2021 12:02

Yep. The second vaccine was much better.

My first Pfizer gave me a fever, fatigue, nausea and headache, all better after 48 hours. My second dose just gave me a slightly sore arm.

Had AZ first dose, with 36hrs of shivering, tiredness, nausea and coldness/high temperature. Had second dose and apart from a slightly sore arm no side effects at all. I got a much sorer arm with my flu jab!

I had my 2nd on Friday and honest to god, although I work with doctors who talk sense, I was absolutely petrified going in to the appointment. Mainly because the first jab not only really hurt but left me bed ridden and feeling awful for 4 days. I'm a healthy 35 year old female.
So far just felt a bit tired with the 2nd jab. Obviously I'm keeping an eye out for anything unusual due to the new guidance but so far seem ok.

Yes I had a horrible time after the first. Ended up getting x 2 prescriptions from Gp.

Second one . Arm was tender and that was it.

I had my first dose last week. I was so ill for two days that I'm now terrified, and a little reluctant, to have the second.

QueenPaw · 02/05/2021 18:32

I was unwell after the first with expected side effects. Had my second yesterday and has similar side effects but a lot milder and I feel fine now. Would say it was 70% less than the first

Christmasfairy2020 · 02/05/2021 18:41

V poorly with 1st
2nd just a slight head ache

Florelei · 02/05/2021 19:00

Yes I was unwell with the first and much less unwell with the second

r0ck · 02/05/2021 19:12

My husband was very unwell after the first but just felt a bit tired and spaced out with the second, he said it was like night and day in terms of the difference! (had AZ)

Synthesiser · 02/05/2021 19:16

You might find this reassuring. Specifically the bit about side effects 2nd time being far less (with AZ)

Same here for first and second was just initial tiredness and then all fine! I took paracetamol more regularly with the second and I don't k ow if they helped.

KingdomScrolls · 03/05/2021 22:03

All very reassuring, thank you! Particularly as despite mask wearing, distancing and sanitising I've come down with a horrible sore throat today (I'm LF testing twice a week and so is DH and I had Covid last year)

Felt rotten for a day or 2 after my first, followed by 2 months of dizziness and headaches Sad
Nothing but a sore arm after my second (so far, touch wood)

JemimaMuddledUp · 05/05/2021 19:46

Yes. My first AZ dose floored me for a week - headache, nausea, dizziness, exhaustion, muscle aches and joint pain. I fell over several times with the dizziness.

I had the second one last week. I was really tired for the first 48hrs or so and have had a mild headache and slightly sore arm for about 5 days, but nowhere near as bad as the first one was.
