Meeting friends outside - do we have to socially distance?

I’m meeting four friends for a picnic tomorrow. As we’ll be outdoors, do we still have to socially distance or can we sit close together?

Heavens, are you 9 years old? Use your common sense.
Wow this is a nice supportive board!
hugocat · 30/04/2021 21:10

Hazmat suit??

EggyBread4me · 30/04/2021 21:14

Do whatever you all feel comfortable with. I don't think I have socially distanced in ages from friends, and some are incredibly covid sensible.

Looking forward to Covid to be kicked into the long grass for good. And the sneering posters bogging off for good.

Social distance and masks
Bullshit

So very true.

Bath789 · 30/04/2021 22:45

OP, no one is going to come and arrest you for sitting too close, so I think you should ask yourself what you feel comfortable with and see what your friends feel comfortable with. Have you checked what Covid rates are like in the area where you and your friends live? In most parts of the UK rates are really low at present. If you and your friends have all been vaccinated (at least 2 weeks ago) that reduces the risk still further.

Maggie900 · 30/04/2021 23:12

My goodness. Just go and live your life. Be sensible, wash your hands and order some lateral flow tests online.

PinchingShoe · 30/04/2021 23:48

Do what you want. But remember that if you did happen to have Covid at the time of meeting your friends, they would all have to self isolate for 10 days

Oh that’s a bit unfair. He’s got a fantastic sense of humour. He hates the press briefings and isn’t keen on the cameras that’s all.
tarapinn · 01/05/2021 21:32

Bloody hell. Who is still thinking like this!!?? Just go and have a bloody picnic. Don't you feel silly thinking anybody else cares!!

Stay 2m apart at all times and wear masks. Each person should be sat at the edge of the blanket and be facing outwards, so no-one is face-to-face. If anyone speaks, wait 45 seconds before anyone replies to give time for the covid particles to blow away.

Each bring your own food. After the picnic agree that you will all burn your cutlery, tupperware and blankets and bury the ashes at least 3ft deep in an isolated area of your garden.

Isolate for 14 days after the picnic.

Have a great day!!

TeddingtonTrashbag · 02/05/2021 14:45

@tarapinn - well said!!

Lulu1919 · 02/05/2021 15:32

@noreenn

Thanks - so are we all supposed to sit two metres apart? Surely people meeting friends in pubs don’t do that!
Exactly Eating outside in a pub garden we were sitting as we normally would around a table ....no masks....just put one on when went inside to use the loo
ThornAmongstRoses · 02/05/2021 15:40

I find threads like this so depressing

Just go and have a picnic, sit near your friends and enjoy yourselves.

Enough is enough now.

You’ve missed the Perspex between everyone as well. If you want to be really sure maybe use hazard suits or individual oxygen masks.
