Where to get Pfizer in London?

blackflower2 · 29/04/2021 15:41

Can anyone advise which vaccination centres are giving Pfizer this week?
I can book anywhere in or around London and am happy to go end of day.

No whining british-style moralising, please. Go to another thread if that’s your thing.

(UK only western country at the moment giving AZ to 40-50 year olds and I have no trust in UK/NHS guidelines after achieving top 10 of worst death rates in the world.)

If you look at other posts Moderna at Wimbledon today if that is suitable. But perhaps it will be a inferior brand another day.

Cookerhood · 29/04/2021 17:50

I volunteer in a vaccine centre. As far as I know (& from a graph on twitter) Pfizer isn't being used for first doses at the moment, it's just for 2nd doses. Maybe if you wait a while & hope not to catch Covid in the meantime?

Yes I thought second doses for Pfizer too
OverTheRainbow88 · 29/04/2021 17:58

I would take any offered but do believe we should have autonomy to choose what is injected into our bodies. If that means waiting than that’s a decision a person has the right to make.

YellowGlasses · 29/04/2021 18:03

What about the deaths and reactions experienced by some people after having Pfizer? Or is it just AZ you think causes complications? None of the vaccines are 100% safe but they all are a much, much better alternative to covid.

Betanet · 29/04/2021 19:07

Guy’s hospital vaccination centre 1 had Moderna today

Yolanda524 · 29/04/2021 19:11

I think it will be hard to get Pfizer as a first dose. And even if you hear of a clinic by the time you get there/book in it will likely change.
My clinic only give AZ as first dose now. Pfizer is reserved for 2nd doses. If your under 30 they will give you Pfizer but it’s rare at the moment because most people under 30 are eligible through work/underlying condition/being a carer and are already vaccinated.

If you are category 6 for the vaccine , then depending on your age you might have to have Pfizer

And that might mean quite a long wait

It's been several weeks since the households of the severely immune compromised were added to cat 6, but those who need Pfizer (only one licenced for 16 and 17 yos) may well still be waiting

Jesus they’re all out on Mumsnet tonight

That’s not true for a start and compared to many Western countries I’m grateful that we’re giving vaccines to 40-50 year olds!!

What’s with all these threads today and the shirts attitudes with them?

FeatheredHope · 29/04/2021 19:57

*shitty! Gotta love that correction ;)

LemonTT · 29/04/2021 20:00

I think anyone who knows, and people do because they send out supply schedules in advance, isn’t going to say. The OPs attitude makes it less likely anyone would drop a hint.

Dolciedolly · 29/04/2021 20:03

Don't know why anyone has replied to this .. feel free OP to bugger off to France or Germany !

Contrary to OP’s assumption, those countries do offer AZ, to anyone over 18 in Germany at least. At the same time they also allow you to choose which one you want as of last week, which has seen the vaccination rates ramp up massively and there are plenty of people wanting to take both Pfizer and AZ.
MadeOfStarStuff · 29/04/2021 20:27

Turn on the news, see the situation in India and how many people are suffering and dying who would love the chance to get any vaccine at all.

If you don’t want what’s offered to you then decline the vaccine, you don’t get to pick and choose. The people trying to play silly buggers like this should go right to the back of the queue!

neveradullmoment99 · 29/04/2021 20:53

Things are coming to light with other vaccines. Risks of heart troubles with the Pfizer. Not much publicised. I wonder why? The cynic in me would say that maybe bad press would lose them business since they are not cheap per vaccine like the AZ.
Im not trying to frighten anyone. Just saying there are risks with every medication.

JustDandy00 · 29/04/2021 21:14

"UK only western country at the moment giving AZ to 40-50 year olds"

Not true. Canada is offering AZ to over 40s.

3WildOnes · 29/04/2021 21:26

Wimbledon have Moderna not sure for how long though. There were lots of people who had specifically chosen Wimbledon to get Moderna when I was there.

RangerOnCall · 29/04/2021 21:30

Barnet hospital does Pfizer and Enfield chase farm does Az
www.newsweek.com/israel-pfizer-vaccine-what-myocarditis-heart-inflammation-1586363
Yes every single medical drug (including vaccines, paracetamol, etc) has rare side effects.

Covid itself is very strongly associated with heart issues including inflammation. Unsurprising really, given that it's an inflammatory disease.

Another example wrt different countries. Greece is AZ for 30+.

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 30/04/2021 06:59

My father had a clot on the brain that can only be put down to his vaccine.... he had the Pfizer jab 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cookerhood · 30/04/2021 10:38

You can never be 100% sure what causes a clot, but there are bound to be issues with the other vaccines as well. Everyone & their doctors needs to make a risk assessment. In my opinion the risk is a long way in favour of getting vaccinated, but that won't be the same for everyone.

Legoninjago1 · 30/04/2021 12:47

How to win friends and influence people eh OP?! Wink
